DISINFECTOE FOR FLUSHING-TANKS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 1e, 191
Application filed January 23, 1914. Serial No. 813,932.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, WILLIAM B. GAMB- BELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gadsden, in county of Etowah and State of Alabama, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Disinfectors for FlushingTanks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in disinfectors for flushing-tanks, and the novelty of this invention resides in the arrangement whereby the after-fill is caused to discharge into a receptacle containing the disinfectant located within the tank, and thence into the bowl.
The accompanying drawing is a plan view of a flushing-tank showing the disinfectant receptacle and the after-fill tube, which seals the bowl, discharging thereinto.
T, indicates the flushing-tank; B is the ball-cock or supply valve; and 0 represents the over-flow pipe which may be in any of the ordinary forms, one only of many possible types being illustrated. At the upper end of this overflow pipe is located a disinfectant receptacle R, adapted to contain disinfectant and deodorizing substance, preferably in ball or tablet form, such, for instance, as mothballs, bichlorid of mercury tablets, or the like. The after-fill tube F is made to discharge directly into this disinfectant receptacle, thus supplying a moderate amount of water to the latter and the balls or tablets contained therein with each flushing of the bowl. In this way, the moderate flow of the after-fill gives more time for the water to become charged with the contents of the disinfectant receptacle, which would not be so marked and noticeable with a larger and more rapid flow of water.
With this arrangement, the disinfectant receptacle R is preferably located at a point at or near the top of the tank, where access is easily gained by simply removing the top when it becomes necessary to replenish the supply.
I claim 1- The combination with a flushing-tank having an overflow located outside thereof, and a disinfectant-receptacle located within the tank at the upper end thereof, and discharging into the overflow, of an after-fill tube which discharges directly into the disinfectant-receptacle In testimony whereof I afiix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM B. CAMPBELL.
