To all whom it may concern.'
YBe yit known that I, ADOLPH H. KOCH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city and county of Los Angeles', State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements vin Gas Burners and Mixers, of which the following isa specification.
My invention pertains to burners, and it has special reference to gas burners which are particularly adapted for tion with stoves, furnaces, heaters and like appliances, and the object is toprovide a burner which can be cheaply constructed,

In the accompanyingv drawings Figure 1 is a side elevation of the burner and mixer, showing the mixer in vertical longitudinal section.` Fig. 2 is a top view of the burner and mixer, and Fig. 3 is -an enlarged longitudinal section of the gas-ejecting nipple.
In carrying out my invention I provide a burner body in two parts or members, the lower member 5 having cast therewith a downwardly-pro] ecting gas inlet tube 6,*this lower member having on its under side chambered projection 7 provided with holes 7 ik in its upper wall through which the gas is supplied through this chamber to the five ring channels of the burner body.
The lupper member 8 of the burner is similar to the lower member 5, excepting that it has no chambered portion or inlet tube, and this member S has in its upper side a series of perforations 9 around each ring, as shown, for the discharge of the gas. The two plates thus described, are held together by screws 10.
The downwardly-projecting tube 6 has a right-angled, horizontally-disposed end, to which the mixer is attached. This mixer comprises a funnel-shaped member 11, with its reduced end 12 attached to the horizontal end of the tube 6, the base or large end of the member having two or more radiallyprojecting arms 13, the ends of the arms being connected to rim 13 bolt holes to afford a means whereby it may be attached to a wall or partition, as shown, for instance, by the part 14, this funnelshaped member being, therefore, on the inside of the stove or heater to which the burner is applied.

INithin the bell-shaped member 15, and midway between the ends of the vertical gas pipe 19, is a gas-ejecting device, shown in detail in Fig. 3. This comprises a short nipple 30, with an axial duct 31, threaded at its rear end,y by means of which it is attached to the pipe 19, and its forward end is reduced. lBack of the reduced end the body is threaded to receive thereon a tubular shell 32. rIhe forward end of this shell has an ejecting-duct 33, which is larger diametrically than the axial duct 31 of the nipple 30.
Radial holes .34 are formed through the wall of the shell 32 at a point near the foryward end of the nipple 30.
This device is Vdesigned to eject the gas v into the tube 6 which leads to the burner. I find that if the gas has a modicumof air mixed therewith in the manner shown, by the nipple and shell, the quality of the flame produced is superior to the mixture produced by the mixing chamber alone, so
that I regard the nipple and shell as a very important part of my invention.
The spaces between the radial arms 13 form air passages between the outside of the funnel member 11 and the insideof the bell-shaped member 15 for admitting air to the interior oit' the combustion. chamber from the air inlet 16.
The operation is as follows: When the gas is turned on and ignited at ithe burner, the heat produced in the combustion chamber in which the burner is located, causesa draft of air from the air inlet 16 through the bellshaped member 15, `and through the passages between the arms 13 .into the combustion chamber. A portion of the air passing from the air inlet is crowded or'forced by this action, past the nippleBO and into the conical member 1l, wherein ymixture is completed, the mixture then proceeding through the pipe 6 t0 the burner.
What I .claim as new, is:
1. In a burner, a burner body, a mixer attached thereto comprisinga funnel-shaped member with yradial arms, a bell-shaped member, larger diametrically than the-.funnel-shaped vmember andhaving means for attaching the same to the funnel-shaped member, said bell shaped member having a gas-ejecting nippleand mixer within, means for supplying gas through said nipple to said funnel-shaped member, and means for supplying air` to said funnel-shaped member through said bell-shaped member.
2. In a burner, in combination with ai stove or heater wall, a burner body, a mixer comprising a :funnel-shaped member, with its reduced end connected to the burner and f attached to the inside of the stove or heater Copies of this ypatent maybe obtained for five cents each, -byadressing the'fWComniissioner of Patente:
