To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK A. GRAHAM,-

a citizen of the United States, residing at Centerville, in the county of Klickitat and State of l/vashington, have invented a new and useful Snap-Hook for Breast and Martingale Straps, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention appertains to a snap hook adapted to accommodate in a peculiar and eflicient manner, the breast and martingale straps of a harness, and aims to provide a device of that character of unique construction to effectively adapt it for the intended purposes.

It is also within the scope of the present invention to provide a device of the character specified, which will be comparatively simple, non-encumbering, substantial and inexpensive in construction, as well as bcing convenient, practical and eflicient in its use.

lVith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

The invention has been illustrated in its preferred embodiment in the accompanying drawing. wherein:

Figure 1 is a side elevation of the mproved device. Fig. 2 is a sectional vlew taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1.

The present device embodies a U-shaped body 1, having an integral hook 2. the shank 3 of the hook being integral with the intermediate or yoke portion of the body 1 and projecting in a direction opposite to the direction in which the arms of the body 1 project. The bill 4 of the hook 2 is adapted to engage the usual ring of a neck yoke (not shown) and a keeper or latch 5 is pivoted to the shank 3 of the hook 2 to cooperate with the tip or bill of the hook 2 in the usual manner.

A screw 6 is passed loosely through an aperture provided in the free end of one arm of the body 1, and has its threaded end threadedly engaging the free end of the other arm of the body 1,'and a roller 7 is journaled upon the boltcor spindle 6 and has the breast strap 8 passed therearound. The roller 7 thus provides an anti-friction bearing or guide of the breast strap 8, to reduce the wear of the breaststrap 8.

Coming to the salient or cardinal features of the present invention, whereby the martingale strap may be accommodated, the intermediate or yoke portion of the body 1 is provided with an ear or lobe 9 projecting between the butt ends of the arms of the body 1, and a rivet or pivot member 10 is engaged loosely through the ear or lobe 9. A pair of links 11 have certain ends engaged by the rivet 10. The other ends of the links 11 are ofi'set away from each other, or diverge, and a bolt or spindle 12 is engaged loosely through an aperture formed in the free end of one link 11 and has its threaded end threadedly engaged into the free end of the other link 11, as clearly seen in Fig. 2.

The links 11 extend angularly to one side of the body 1, and an anti-frictional roller 13 is mounted upon the bolt or spindle 12 between the free ends of the links 11 to have the martingale strap 14 passed therearound. The links 11 in extending to one side or beyond one arm of the bodv 1, to support the roller 13 at one side of the said bodv, enable the martingale strap 14 to be applied around the roller 13, so as to be connected to the neck yoke (not shown) through the medium of the hook 2. Particular attention is called to the fact that when the bolt 12 is removed, to release the roller 13, the links 11 may be swung to the other side of the body 1, so that the bolt 12 and roller 13 being reapplied to the links 11. will be arranged reverse to the position illustrated in Fig. l, and wherebv the present device may be reversed according to the position at which it is desired to arrange the hook 2 when the device is in use. It will therefore be observed that the present device accommodates both the breast and martingale straps in a simple, yet thoroughly eflicient manner, and the present device is not apt to get out of order or become broken in its use. The other advantages and capabilities of the present device will be obvious to those versed in the art, without further comment being necessary.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is In a device of the character described, a U-shaped body, the yoke portion of which nected to the said pivot member having their free'ends offset away from each other,

the links extending angular-1y beyond one arm of the body, a spindle engaged through 10" the free ends of the said links, and an antifrictional martingale strap roller mounted upon the said spindle.
