play apparatus-and has for its object to' provide an apparatus of the character specified, especially adapted for holding articles packed in independent boxes, in such manner that any particular box Will be accessible for examination or removal without changing the position of any other than the box to which access is desired.

The present embodiment of the invention comprises a plurality of rods or track rails, one of the said rods or rails 1 being supported by depending bearings 2, in brackets 3, the said brackets being secured to a wall 1 or the like, by screws 5, and having an overhanging arm 6, from which the bearing 2 depends. The other rod or rail 7 is supported in bearing boxes 8, secured to shelving 9, or any other suitable fixed horizontal support. The rods or'rails 1 and 7 are par-- allel with each other and are of suitable cross section for the purpose. A channel bar 10 is provided at each of its ends with a cross head 11, and each cross head has a bearing 12, at each of its ends, the said bearings being in alinement and spaced apart from each other.

The bearings at the upper end of the bar engage the rail or rod 1, while the bearings at the lower end of the bar engage the rail or rod 7. The bar 10 is arranged with its channel rearwardly, that is, toward the wall 4, and each of the side edges of the said bar is provided with series of teeth or notches 13, the said series being spaced apart in regular order, and the series of one side edge registers with the series at the other side edge.

Each series of teeth or notches has enough teeth or notches to permit the desired amount of adjustment between the support, and the said teeth or notches face upwardly,

so that when the hangers, to be described, are engaged with the teeth, the said hangers will be prevented from downward move ment, while at the same time the hangers may be disengaged from the teeth by upward movement.

The rods 1 and .7 may be arranged at a show window if desired or in any other suitable manner, and a series. of bars 10 may be arranged alongside each other, just far enough apart to permit the boxes containing the articles to occupy a position alongside each other.

Each of the said supports for the boxes comprises a supporting surface formed from wire bent in the present instance, to form a circle and a triangle withm the an cle extending across the same, the said triangle and circle being continuous. A portion of the wire forming the circle is offset radially as indicated at 15 to form a hearing rod or journal pin for engagement by the hanger, to be described, which connects the support to the channel bar. Each of the said hangers consists of a pair of straps or bars 16, arranged alongside each other in parallel relation and connected at their upper ends by a cross bar 16*. The said straps are arranged on opposite sides of the channel bar, the cross bar engaging the front face of the said channel bar.

Each strap has at its lower end on the opposite edge from the teeth of the channel bar, a perforated lug 17, and the said lugs of the pair of straps are engaged by the bearing rod or journal pin of a support 14. The said pin or rod is rigid in the lugs, and

the support extends at right angles to the hanger as shown in Fig. 2. Atits upper end each 0 the said straps of the pair is provided with an upwardly and rearwardly extending perforated lug 18, and a bolt 19 is passed through the registering perforations of the lugs of the pair and is engaged by a nut 20 to hold the bolt in place. The bolts 19 of the hangers are adapted to engage the teeth 13 of the channel bar, to support the hangers and the supports 11 in adjusted position.

The hangers may be adjusted on the channel bar, by swinging the outer ends of the straps forwardly away from the said bar and at the same time moving the said straps upwardly slightly. The bolt 19 and the cross bar 16 are thus brought into the same. horizontal plane, and there issufiicient (115 tance between the bolt and the bar to permit the teeth of the channel bar to pass the bolt.

The boxes 21 containing the articles are arranged-0n the supports as shown in F ig, 2,v and the said supports may be arranged at a distance from each other, such that there .is just suflicient room for a. box to be received between two adjacent supports.

Each of the channel bars 10 is supported by both track rails, so that it cannot swing laterally, and the lateral spacing of the bearings..l2 at each end of thechannel bar provides for the easy sliding movement of the channel bar on the rails without friction.

Each box 21 rests upon its own individual support so that the said box may be removed, without disturbing the position of the remaining boxes. It will be understood that the supports are spaced in accordance with the size of the boxes. i

In an apparatus of the character specified, a channel bar, a series of supports for boxes, and a hanger for each support, each hanger being mounted to slide on the opposite face of the channel bar from the channel, said bar having the side walls of its channel provided with spaced series of registering teeth, each hanger having at its upper end-oppositely arranged lugs extending rearwardly on each side of the channel bar, and a bolt connecting the lugs, said bolt being adapted to engage the teeth.
