`A is anarm, the lowerpa'rt fof which is made sti-z ight, and with two or more `holes through it to receive the screws, bolts, or rivets, by which it is secured to its support. I n
The upper-paitfof the u ,rniL-X` is curved outward and extended-upwardfso as to leavela space between i tlieisaid npperlxtrt of'th'e said arm and the dash- 1 l board or other support to whichit Vmay vbe attached.

bolt-s, screws,v rivets, welding, or other convenient means, the upper end of the spring B,- which is curved downward, and is made of such a length that its lower part l may be 'between the straight lower part of the arm A and the support to which the holderisattached. s
The lower part of the; spring B has aslot, b', formed in it, as shown in Iigr 2, for the passage of the upper bolt, screw, o r rivet, by which the holder is secured toits support. n
This construction allows the tension of the spring B to be adjusted, as maybe desired, according to the thickness of the reins to be held and the rmness with which `it is desired that they should be held.
Y O is bar, through which the bolts, screws, or
f rivets that secure the rein-holder toits support pass, as shown in tig. 1, and which may be placed upon the opposite side of said support from the holder AB, `or upon the saine side with it, as may be desired. The
latter arrangement I prefer, in case the rein-holder be ness of the reins. n l 4 JOHN It. AGHENBAGH.
