Application filed July 25, 1911.
[ iii Lr/imn "it may concern to it known that 1, Lin): B. ABBOTT, a citizen of the l mited States, residing at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and f tmic of (,minerticiu, have invented a new um] useful Ground-Clamp, of which the foihw ng is n specifimtion.
.\I "invention relates to improvemenw in clumps for uttnching electric wires to pipes, etc, for the purpose of gmunding said electric Wires. 7
The objects of in improvements are:
First, to provide a clamp which may be quickly and easily applied without the remowil of nuts or bolts which are frequently dropped or lost. Second; to provide means of securing various sizes of wire without the use of solder. Third; to provide a clamp without projecting screws or nuts which are likely to become caught and darn aged. Fourth; to provide means of easy ad ustment to overcome variation in size of pipes undwires With these and other objects in view,
which will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, my invention consists of the novel construction, Combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated and claimed.
While susceptible to embodiment in Va rious was by the use of different Incchani- Ciil equivalents, my invention is well exemplified by the form shown in the accompanying drawings. in which;
Figure l is a side view of my-clamp as applied to a pipe and shows the manner, of holding the Wire therein Fig. I] is a vertical. section taken through C-D in Fig. I looking in the direction of the arrows.
Fig. III is an end view of my clamw be fore being applied to the pipe. This ows one arrangement of the flexible clamping strap 17. the two ends of the strap bein over the tightening slide and the centra portion of the strap bearing upon the. pipe. This same arrangement is perhaps more clearly shown in l H Fig. V is n top view if the ti htening slide *3. This shows the tappe hole 0 through which the tightening screw 4 acts. It also sho s the slots 10 which guide the movemert of this part in the rectangular openings, 11 and 11" in part 1. These Specification of Letters Patent.
