Description

i' UNITEDv STATES PATENT oir-Frou- JOHN GAMBLE, or PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA,
oF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
ASSIGNOR T0 GEORGE A. REACH?,
CADDY-BAG.
lSfiecification of Letters Patent.
Application 1ed .Tune 1, 1914. Serial Nol 842,141.
1/ 'o all 'whom it may concern Be it known that I, JoHN zen of the United States, residing at Phila-v delphia, Pennsylvania, have invented cer-V tain new and useful Improvements in Caddy-Bags, of which the following is a specification. A My invention is designed to add stiffness to a caddy bag Without detraoting from thee general desirable feature of flexibility, and to this end I have inserted at intervals vin the circumference of the bag stiifening strips extending from the ytop to the bottoni, the stiffening strip ha'vingsits end turned in and secured at the bottom'. Y In the accompanyingy drawing I have shown a caddy bag in elevation in Figure l, and in Fig. 2 a vertical section. Figs. 2a, 2", c, show sectional details.
As ordinarily made up, there is a body section of suitable fabric as shown at A, and this is provided With a metallic ring section B at the upper end, the fabric being suitably secured to a leather top piece GAMBLE, citiwhich is turned inwardly around the metallic ring, being held thereto .by a threading leather C, the leather piece being indicated at D. The bottom of the bag consists of a leather disk F forming the outer face, and reinforced by a composition section f riveted to the leather disk and havin'ga turneddown annular flange g` to which is "stitched a leather reinforcedv piece H.' Within the bag and forming the main' bottom thereof is a veneered Wood section Is. I have found it' desirablev to stiifen the bag longitudinally, and t0 this end I insert within channels formed by the material of the bag -and leather strips L a steel member m, the upper nd being riveted as shown at N, while its ower end is bentL4 at right angles passing between the Wooden bottom and the composition member and secured by' a rivet to the Wfood bottom. A series of these strengthening members is used, preferably three. These members not only stifen the bag lon- -gitudinally without detracting from thel general flexibility hold the parts strain, the bag of the bag, but tend to together against undue and generally render moredurable and capable of resisting much more strain'than is usual with'the bagsnow in use.
I claim as my invention A caddy bag comprising a Vbody member, an annular support at the top, a rigid bottom, iexible stifening members rigidly secured to the bottom section, riveted at the top, and incased by the body material, substantially as described.
In testimon whereof, I aiiix my signature in presenceofy two Witnesses.
. l JOHN GAMBLE.
