lt will be observed that in accordance with mv invention the circuit` closer casing is not riveted to or in electrical connection with either of the conductors 2G, 21, and therefore that there is no normal electrical connection either between said casing (in this instance the hand 38) and the'lower cap i8 or between said casing and the upper can 1G. The lower cap 18 is not at any time in circuit, and hence the flash light as a whole may be nlaced in tool box or with any metal articles Without danger of the circuit being accidentallv made bv the con tact of the lamb With-the blade of tool or the like. rdinarily it has been customary in the construction of Vlash lights of lthe character in question to rivet the circuitcloser casing to a conductor corresponding Tith 21 and have one end of the circuit closer spring; in electrical connection with its casing, and in this way the casing was always in electrical connection with, the lower exposed cap on the exterior shell, and it has been customary to connect the upper end of a conductor, corresponding 'with 20, to the can on the upper endof the outer shel.l with which the reflector for the lamp was in electrical connection, and under these conditions it is plain that a metal tool. such as a screwdriver,lving against the circuit closer casing" and lthe upper cap oragainst the lower can and the uppercap o a flash light, would make the circuitand result in the battery being unnecessarily' consumed. A portable electric li ght of the class de' scribed comprising an exterior casing containing a battery and haring; at its upper end an electric lamp in electrical connection with said battery, a reflector having a threaded neck receiving said lamp, a lens and means for holding and attaching said linnn, reflector and lens comprisingr a threaded sleeve on said casing a threaded cap engaging said sleeve having an open center and. flanged inwardly and formed with tongues along its opening, a shell of approximately lnvcrced conc-shape entering said cap and secured thereto by'said tongues and having an onen lower'end'to receive 'the threaded neck of the reflector and a threaded upper end,y and a threaded lens-holding ring engaging the threaded upper portion.'I

A portable electric light of the class described comprising an exterior casing containing a battery and having at its upper end an electric lamp in electrical connection with said battery, a reector having a threaded neck `receiving said lamp, a lens and means 'for holding and attaching said lamp, relectorand lens comnrisinga-threaded sleeve on said casing. a threaded cap engaginfr said sleeve having an open center and flanged inwardly and formedV with Itongues along its (mening, a shell of approrimatelv inverted cone-shape entering said cap and secured thereto bv said tongues and having an onen lower: end to receive the threaded neck of the reflector and a threaded upper end. and a threadeldylens-holding ring enga ging the threaded upber portion of said shell and the edge of the lens, combined with a conducting bandv ('23) extending Within the upper end of said exterior casing and in electrical connection with the lamp, circuit terminal conductors for the lamn and battery extending, in part, along` said cas ing and normally separated at adia cent ends from each other and one of which is connected with said band, and manually ouerative circuitclosing means for electrically connectingf the adioining ends of said terminal conductors for completi ng the circuit.
