ANDREAS ANDERHUB, NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSGNOR T0 JQHN BAYER, OF SME PLAGE.
Letters Patent No. 112,204, dated February 28, 1871.
iMPROVEMENT iN TARGET-ALA-RMS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom, it may concern 'Be it lznown that I, ANDREAs ANDERHUB, of the city., county, and State of New York, have invented 2t new and Improved Target-Alarm; dnd I do herehy declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will ennble'those skilled in the art to ineke and use the seme, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming pztrt oi' this specification, in which drawing- Figilre l represents a, rear view of' this invention.
Figure 2 is a vertice-l section of the same, the line wx, tig. 1, indicating the piene of section.
Similar letters indica-te corresponding parts rJShis invention consists in the arrangement of an escnpemcnt-wheel, to which motion is impztrtedby a, weight or spring, and which, when permitted to revolve, imparts motion to one or more rock-shafts carrying drum-sticks or other devices capable of giving an alarm, incombination with t ni'ovztbie center plug in the target which is attached to a hinged rod provided with a, nose, which forms a stop for zt lever furnished with e check-piece to :tri-est the motion of the -escapement-wheel in such a, manner that, whenever the center-plug oi' the target is hit, the check-lever is released and the alarm is given, and by depressing the check-lever the center-plug is permitted to return to its original position and the motion ofthe escapcrnentwheel is stopped.
In the drawing- The letter A designates a target, the center-plugB of which is made detached from the body'of the tzu'- get and secured to n rod, G, which is connected tothe frame of the target by n hinge joint, a, and subjected tothe action of a spring, b, which has a. tendency to keep said rod together with the center-plug out in the position shown in iig. l.
From the front side of the rod O projects n nose, c, which forms 'a stop fora lever, D, that is pivoted to the inner surface of the frame, and from which extends en arm, el, which forms the check for the es ezniement-wheel E.
A spring, c, has :t tendency' to carry the lever upward so as to throw the check d out of the path ot' the escnpement-wheel. Y
The cscapement-wheel is mounted on :t shaft, f, and the studs or cogs g projecting therefrom :tot on levers la, which extend from rock-shafts t', and which are subjected to the action of springs j, one of which draws its lever down and the other up.
-The escztpemencwheel is driven by a, weight orspring, sind if the driving power is wound up and the cheeklever is caused to release the,escapeinent-wheul, this` wheel revolves sind inipztrts'lnotion to the rock-shaft. fi.
lo the. outer ends oi' the rock-shafts are secured drum-sticks k or any other device npnble of giving an alan-m.
Whenever the center-plng is hit, the nose c is caused to release the check-lever D, the escztpement-Wheel is set free and the alarm is set in motion.
This device is intended for targets used in shootinggalleries Where bolts or small bullets are fired, usuali y from air-guns, and the alarm mechanism is so constructed that it is set in motion Whenever any portion of the center-plug is hit.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The nose c, on the rod C, which carries the centerplug B of a target, in combination with the checklever D and d, escapement-whcel E, lever h., and alarm shafts i, all constructed :1nd operating substantially in the manner herein shown nud described.
This specification signed by me this 30th day Qt' November, 1870.
ANDREAS ANDERHUB.
Witnesses W. HAUFF, C. WAHLERS.
