HENRY HUNSBEBG-ER, 0F POTTS'I'OWN, PENNSYLVANIA.
ADJUSTABLE WINDOW-SCREEN.
Application filed October 15, 1912.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY W. HUNS- BERGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pottstown, in the county of Montgomery and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Window-Screens, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements carrying guide pins slidable through the frame of the screen and so arranged with relation thereto to providehand grips for manipulating the adjustable members.
Further objects of this invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this application, and in which:-
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the win.-
dow screenlooking from the rear. Fig. 2 is a front elevation. Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
' Fig. 4 is a similar view taken on the line 4.4 of Fig. 2.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 represents a screen frame which is covered as is usual with screen fabric 2 secured thereto in any suitable manner as by the beading 8. This screen frame has its ends provided with a pair of parallel apertures 4: extending through the ends so as to receive guiding pins 5 carried by the wings or extensions. These wings or extensions comprise face boards 6 which have lateral ribs 7 secured thereon and extending Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing Washington, D. 0.

throughout the length of the boards on the rear side thereof. These ribs are apertured to receive the pins 5 which extend therethrough and are secured to the ribs in such a manner that they lie parallel with and alongside of the rear face of the face boards 6. The pins extend freely through the apertures 4 in the ends of the frame and guide the face boards over the screen frame, preventing lateral movement of the same by contact with the walls of the apertures 4 and with the screen fabric 2 as will be readily understood. These wings being slidably arranged on the ends of the screen provide convenient means for adjusting the screen to diflerent widths of window frames and also permits ready mounting and dismounting of the screen in the frames, the wings extending into the guiding channels formed by the sash and parting beads.
The guide rods 5, as will be noted project a considerable distance inwardly of the side rails of the frame to provide hand gripping portions for moving the adjustable extensions into and out of engagement with the guide channels formed by the sash and parting strip of the window.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new, is
In a window screen, a screen frame, adjustable wings slidably engaging one face of the frame, laterally disposed ribs carried by the wings, the side rails of said frame having through apertures, guide pins fixed to said ribsand freely slidable through said apertures, and said pins projecting a considerable distance inwardly ofthe frame over the face of the fabric to provlde hand gripping portions for adjusting said wings. In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
