WEEELED TOY.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 15, 1914.
Application filed September 30, 1914. Serial No. 864,315.
To all whom it may concern Be it lmown that 1, J OHN KAsTURA, a subject of the King of Hungary, residing at Duquesne, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in -Wheeled Toys, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to wheeled toys and has for its object to provide a toy of such class, capable of being thrown into operation when the toy is propelled causing thereby considerable amusement to a child.
Further objects of the invention are to provide a wheeled toy which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable and inexpensive.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of a novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specifically de scribed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.
In the drawings wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views :Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of a wheeled toy in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional plan.
Referring to the drawings in detail 1 de notes a base, provided centrally of its upper face with means to constitute representation of an anvil as indicated at 2. The base 1 has one side provided with a lateral projection which forms a support for a vertically disposed pin 4. The base 1 has arranged centrally therein a pair of rectangular slots 5, 6, the former is of greater length than the latter and arranged in proximity to the one end of the base, while the other is arranged in proximity to the other end of the base. The slots 5, 6 are positioned in longitudinal alinement.
The forward end of the base which is indicated at 7 has projecting from each side thereof a shaft 8 and loosely mounted upon said shaft 8 are wheels or circular disks 9. The rear end of the base is indicated at 10 and journaled therein is a transverse extending shaft 11, provided intermediate its ends with a crank 12, the latter being positioned at the slot 5. The shaft 11 projects to each side of the base 1 and has fixed thereto a wheel or circular disk 13.
Extending transversely of the slots 5 and fixed in the base 1 is a pin 14, having piv otally mounted thereon, the lower end of a miniature figure 15, the latter having an arm 16 thereof provided with a sledge hammer 17. Pivotally connected to the lower end of the figure 15,'as at 18, is a link 19, which is pivotally connected as at 20, to the crank 12. Pivotally connected as at 21 to the lower portion of the figure 15, is a longitudinally extending coupling rod 22.
Secured in the base 1 and extending transversely of the opening 6 is a pin 23 having the lower end of a miniature figure 24 pivotally mounted thereon and said lower end of said figure 24 is furthermore pivotally connected as at 25 to the connecting rod 22.
Loosely mounted upon the pin 4, as at 26, is a vertically disposed miniature figure 27, which has connected to one of its arms the representation of a piece of iron as at 28. Fixed to the lower portion of the figure 27 and secured to the lower portion of the figure 24, is an angle-shaped rod 29.
One of the arms 30 of the miniature figure 24 has a sledge hammer 31 connected therewith.
Owing to the manner in which the miniature figures 15, 24, are connected together, when the base is propelled, one of said figures will have its upper portion moved toward the anvil, while the other of said fig ures will have its upper portion moved away from the anvil and owing to the way in which the figure 27 is connected to the figure 24 it is obvious that when the upper portion of the figure 24 moves toward the anvil the figure 27 will be shifted on its pivot, so that the element 28 will be moved away from the anvil, but when the upper portion of the figure 24 moves away from the anvil, the element 28 will be shifted toward the anvil and as the figure 15 moves toward the anvil when the figure 24 moves away, the sledge 17 will be shifted downwardly toward the element 28.
lVhat I claim is 1. A wheeled toy comprising a base having a vertical pin, an oscillatory figure mounted upon said pin, a pair of oscillatory elements supported by said base and connected together, front and rear pairs of wheels for said base, a crank shaft fixed to the rear pair of wheels and an operative connection between said shaft and one of said elements for oscillating said element's when the base is propelled, and an angleshaped rod connecting @said figure to one of said elements causing the oscillation of said figure simultaneously With the oscillation of said elements. v
2. A wheeled toy comprising a base hav ing a vertical pin, an oscillatory figure mounted upon said pin, a pair ofoscillatory elements supported by said base and con nected together, front and rear pairs of wheels for said base, a crank shaft fixed to the rear pair of wheels and an operative "shaped rod connecting said figure to one of said elements causing the oscillation of said figure simultaneously ith the oscillation of saidelements, and means to constitute the representation'of anvil carried by said base in position between said elements and oppositesaidfigure. v In testimony whereof l affix my signa ture in the presence of two Witnesses... c v -JOHN KASTURA.
