The Scheule refen'e to these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all wlwm tt 'nuty coacern Be it known that I, MICHAEL WALPoLn, of- Milford, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in l"ulc1'nm-Pince1's for Boot and Shoe- Makers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exaot description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon whiohorm a part of this specification.
My invention relates to and is intended as an improvement upon the fulerum'pincers for which Letters 1 atent were granted to nie; and consists in the construction and mode of adjnsting the fulorurn, as will be hereinafter fully set forth. In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same,I will now proceed 'to desoribe its construction and operation, .referring to the annexed drawing, in whichignre 1 is a side view, and
Figure 2 is a front view 'of my improved pinoers.
A represents the upper, and
B, the lower jaw, constructed with their respective handles O and D in the same manner as described in my former patent, above referred to.
The handle O is slotted for a suitable distance below the jaw A, for the insertion and pivot-ing of the lower jaw B in the upper end, and for the fulcrum E to move up and down.
At the lower end, on each side of said slot in the liandle G, are formed ratohet-teeth a a, on the front side' The fnlcrnmE has, at its inner end or base, a downward-extending projection, b, which is, on its inner 'nns head isteveiea on the side towm'd the sioaed handle, as shown in fig. 1, and a spring, is secured to the back thereof, which spring extends downward and bears against the inner side of the haudle.
By the means of this spring the fulcrum E is held firmly at any point where it maybe set, and it is moved by an upward pressure on the fulcrnm, which releases the teeth on the projection b from the ratohet teeth a a, the beveling of the head d allowing or rendering this movement possible.
Having thns fully described'my invention,
What I clairn as new, and deslre to secure. by Letters Patent, is-- p 1. The slotted hanclle C, provided with ratohet-teeth (w on each side of the slot, substantially as .and for the purposes heiein set forth.
