As shown in the drawing, the duplex hetpin comprises the outer tubular pin, des1gnatecl in a general way by B, ancl having the entering-pomt, 2, als one end, und some suitable heacl, as h, a1; the other end; this view also shows the pin B assemblecl with a central pin C fo1 use as a comblnecl am] salety hat-pin. Fig.2 shows the tubulur pin -l with a seconcl pin, C, locatecl centrally therein, a:fter being insertecl from the leftlmncl in Fig. 1, through the entrance 3; this central pin has a heacl d, und the point 4 extencling beyoncl tl1e p0intencl 2, so thes,e two entering-Encls, 2 nncl 4 together const1- flute one extenclecl entering-point 2-J=, .for tl1e combinecl plus B und C. When the two plus are thus assembled, they constitute one article, one pin, whicl1 is aclaptecl to be usec1 in all respects as an ordinary single hat- Vhen thus 11sed, however, on being insertecl into a hat, -the central pin C may be withclrawn ancl used as an ordinary hat-pin, sepnrately ancl in anotherlocation, sothe then unassemblecl pins are each operative indepenclently of the other.

As one oonvenient arrangement for meeting the orclinary requirements, the branchway entrance may, as inclicatecl in Figs.l

In a duplex hat-Pin, a tubular pin having at the head-end therof a branch-way entrance f01 an insertible central pin, 21 pointreceptxcl consist'ing 0f 'a part of the tube between the head-end 0f the tube and said branch-waj1 entrance f01 receiving the point of the cent-ralpin when this is inserted hom the point-nd of the tubular-pin, a heacl 0n the insertible pin arranged for constituting a stop when this pin is inserted -through said bfanch-way entrance.

pointreceptacle consisting of a part ofthe v tube between the head-encl 0f the tube and said branch-way entrance f01' receiving the point 0f the central Pin'when this is inserted fmm the point-end of the tubular-pin, a head 0n the tubular pin ancl arranged f01' closing the head-end of the point-receptacle,

and a. head on the insertible pin arranged f01 constitutingfl stop when this pin is inserted through sa1d branch-way entrance.
