In the drawing Figure 1 is a front elevation of a window frame showing the present invention in position thereon, the rod which supports the curtain being shown in Fig. 2 is a section taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one of the clips or brackets.

There are two clips or brackets employed in carrying the invention into practice, each of which consists of a sheet metal plate formed to have a body-portion 1, and opposite side wings 2, the parts just mentioned seating flat against the front faces of the window frame. The side wings act to strengthen the structure and prevent twisting 0 the sheet metal. The front or outer exposed faces of the body and side wings are further strengthened by a pressed out rib 3 which latter is preferably given a conformation that enhances the ornamental value and efiect of the clips or brackets. The outer ends of the bodies are extended at right angles at 4 to abut the side faces ofthe window ,frame and are provided at their free extremities with prongs 5. which extend parallel to the bodies and are forced into the wood material of which the fwindow frame is constructed, so as to effectively sustain the clips or brackets in position. Small nails or pins 6 may be driven through apertures 7, provided therefor in the bodies so as to assist in maintaining the clips or brackets in immovable position. The opposite or inner ends of the bodies are slitted at 8, and the material between the slits is struck-out to form fingers or hooks 9, the last mentioned end of the body being rounded at 10.

A tubular rod or pole 11 has a spring 12 of the coil type extending on its interior and beyond the ends thereof, so that the ends of the spring may be hooked over the fingers 9 of the clips or brackets, whereby it will be seen that the rod or pole is resiliently supported in position, and has its vertical movements limited by the upper end lower edges of-the rounded ends 10, in cases where the tube ends extend over and receive said rounded ends of the clips or brackets.

By provision of a coiled spring which is extensible and contractible, it will be evident that the curtain is resiliently supported, and in addition, the spring ends may be drawn apart to accommodate the rod or pole to windows possessed of varying widths, as is evident. As above stated, however, by having a tube or rod or pole of only sufficient length to enable the rounded ends of the body to project thereinto, the rod will-be supported against up and down movement, shouldit be desirable to'so hold same.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. In a curtain support, a pair of clips.
