WILLIAM PARKS. or MEADVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA.
Letters Patent No. 111,562, dated February 7, 1871.
IMPRCVEMENT IN CHRNS.'
T he Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the' same. i
To -all whom, it may canular-ur.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM PARKS, of the city of Meadviile, Pennsylvania, have invented a new and improved Ghurn; and I do hereby dee-lare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and vthe letters of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 represents my churn with all its parts adjusted in working :o1-der.
R isa post in the bottom board X.
This post is double, and on it is hung the balancewheel G.
The hand-wheel E' on the shaft O'.
F is a smaller band-wheel, driven by E.
On the shaft of this small wheel is a crank, D.
O is a. pitrnan, one end on, the crank D, and the other on a pin, Z, on the bottom of the churn A.
' lhe churn A is hung on a pin, B, and when the wheei Gis made to revolve, the churn A o'scillates rapidly.
H is a cover.
The churn A is a round or square vessel, of woodA or metal.
Figure 4 represents the churn-dash, vwhich is made of bars or lattice work, l 2 3 4 5.
On the sides of these bars are 'two or more Wings,
vshown at K K, Figure 3, perforated' with two or-more holes each, and the edges of the wings are notched,
(see 6 'i' 8 9 10 11.) lhere may be any desired number of these wings.
The top of the dashcr is round, asv shown at Figure 2, and-has a strainer on one-half', (see U.) lhis also answers for a ventilator.
Fig. 4 shows the dasher pnt together and-removed from the churn. rlhis dasher sits in the churn in a perpendicular position, and when the cream is placed in the churn the oscillating motion of the churn, as before described, causes the butter to come.
Vhat I claim 'as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters, Patent is as follows, to wit:
1. lh'c churn-flasher hereindescribed, consisting of thc vertical bars l 2 3 4 5, the horizontally-placed perforated wings K Ii, notchedas at 6 7 8 9 10.11,
the rounded portion S, and strainer U, all constructed as specified.
2. The above-described flasher, in combination with an oscillating churn-barrel, A, substantially as set forth..
W. lPARKS.
Witnesses A. B.- RICHMOND, A. G. RICHMOND.
