G-Arns, ot' Ghieagoin the county of Cook and State of Illinois,` have invented a-new and Improved Window-Sash Holder; and Ido hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and enact .description thereof, reference `being had to the accompanying drawing making part of this specification, ,in which- Figure l is a view, partly -in section, showing the inode of applying my holder to a sash and its frame; Figure 2 isa perspective viewV of the holder; Figure?) is avie'w of thel back of the holder; and Figure 4 is a vertical central section through the holder; Figures 4' and 5 show a lnodilication of the fasten- Siinilar letters of lreference,indicate correspomling parts' in the several figures. Y l This. invention relates to an improved holding device 'or' fastening, which is .designed for sustaining wi-ndow-.sashes'at any desiredheight, and also for `locking the same when shut.

'The'nature of my invention 'consists'in a hollowor chamber-ed wedge, having fitted into its chambers two or more anti-friction rollers, and provided with a han-A dle or ingerpiece,`so that when the device is mortsed into the facc of a window-frame and allowed vertical play it will irmlysustain a sash at any desired Aheight above the sill Vby its wedging action against the edge ofthe sash, as will bc hereinafter explained.'

sash, and thus wedge the .sash iirmly; and that by pressing more or less forcibly downward with the hand upon the lip b the wedge will crowd hard against the sash and hold it safely at any` desiredheight.

By a slight upward movement of the wedge, which can be conveniently given with the hand on the lip l1, the sash Ywill be released, and while `the wedge his held up may be freely moved up and down.

I do not claim an inclined recess with a rubber ball `placed in the recess. Nor do I clailn a sliding piece in combinationv with an inclined recess;
