T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALVIN W. ROGMAN, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drawers and Supports, of which the following is a specification.

The main objects of this invention are to provide a drawer and support having improved means for slidably supporting the drawer; to provide a drawer and support particularly adapted for supporting merchandise receptacles wherein access is had at the top of the receptacle; to provide improved means adapted to support the drawer with its receptacle in position thereon in a tilted position, into which the drawer is normally urged when drawn outwardly on the support, and thereby afford convenient access to the receptacle for the removal of its contents or for refilling; to provide improved means adapted to permit said drawer to be readily removed from the support; and to provide an improved drawer and support of this kind particularly adapted to be made up in the form of combined display and supporting racks.

An illustrative embodiment of this invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in whichFigure 1 is a side elevation of a single drawer and support. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing a frame constructed according to this invent-ion being arranged to support a plurality of drawers. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the horizontal side members. Fig. 5 shows a modification of the horizontal side member.

In the construction shown in the drawings the supporting frame comprises end upright members 1 to which are secured the transverse front and rear members 2'and 3 supporting the horizontally disposed side members a. The transverse members 2 and 3 are secured at their ends to the uprights 1 and are spaced apart vertically a sufficient distance to accommodate the drawer and the receptacle to be carried thereon.

The side members at are spaced apart horizontally a suitable distance to receive the drawer, and each side member is provided with a horizontally disposed pad 5 at the forward end thereof, and a vertically disposed pad 6 at the rear end thereof which are attached to the respective bars 2 and 3.

equal in width The pad 5 rests upon the bar 2 and is secured thereto by screws or bolts 7, having shoulder 8 engaging the rear edge of the bar 2. The pad 6 bears against the rear of the bar 3 and is secured in position thereon by the bolts or screws 9.

Guideways 10 are formed on the opposite sides of the members 4: which are designed to receive the studs 11 on the drawer 12. An upwardly and forwardly disposed extension 13 is integrally formed adjacent to the forward end of each of the members 4 in which the guideways 10 are continued. Each of the pads 5 is extended transversely inward from the member 4 to form ledges or shoulders lat upon which the drawer l2 rests when the drawer is supported in position with the studs 11 received in the guideways 10. An upwardly disposed lug 15 is formed on each of the pads 5 which is substantially to the width of the member 4. These lugs are adapted to secure a drawer against transverse shifting, particularly when in its tilted position.

The drawer member 12 is made in the form of a tray having flanges 16 around all the edges thereof. The studs 11 may be socured at the rear corners of the drawer member in any suitable manner, being herein shown as the ends of a rod 18 secured in the angle at the rear edge of the drawer member.

In order to render easy the removal of the drawers from the frame the upper of the flanges which form the guideways are cut away at 20 so that the studs 11 can be lifted out of the guideways and the drawer member drawn forward and out of the frame. The drawer member may, of course, be assembled on to the frame in the reverse manner. If desired the extension 13 may have a slot 21 formed therein on each side and communicating with the guideway whereby it is possible to remove the studs 11 from the guideways 10 when the drawer is in its forward position.

The drawer member 12 is adapted to carry a receptacle 22 thereon which is herein shown in the form of a rectangular shaped can generally used for cookies, crackers, biscuits, etc, where the cover 23 is hinged over the top thereof and is swung back to provide access to the contents.

The operation of the device is as follows: The drawer 12 is normally supported in position with the studs 11 received in the guideways l0 and the drawer resting upon the ledges it with the receptacle in position thereon. (i hen in such a position the receptacle is entirely removed from the frame and will allow the cover to be thrown upwardly so that ac cess may be readily had to the contents, or if desired the receptacle may be removed from the drawer and replaced by another one. The drawer and its receptacle are then returned to their normal positions by elevating the front of the drawer and shoving it rearwardly. W' hen it is desired. to remove the drawer from the frame, the studs 11 are removed from the guideways 10 through the iassage Q0 and the drawer pulled forwardly and out of the frame. If the horizontal side members a were constructed in accordance with the modification shown in Fig. 5 it would be possible to remove the drawer when in its forwardly extended position.

Although but one specific embodiment of this invention has been herein shown and described, it will be understood that numerous details of the construction shown may be altered or omitted without departing from the spirit of this invention defined by the following claims.

I claim 1. A device of the class described comprising a frame including horizontal side mem- I bers having; guidewuys extending;' to points near the forward ends thereof and terminating in upwardly and forwardly disposed. extensions located at said points on said side members and in which said guideways terminate, a drawer member mounted on said frame, shoulders formed adjacent to the rear corners of said drawer member engaging said guideways, ledges on said side members in advance of said extensions and coaeting with said shoulders for shiftably supporting; said drawer member, said guideways being provided with rearwardly extending openings to permit the release of said shoulders from said guideways.

A device of the class described comprising a frame including horizontal side members having guideways extending to points near the forward ends thereof and terminating in tmwardly and forwardly disposed extensions located at said points on said side members and in which said guideways terminate, a drawer member slidably mounted on said frai'ne, studs located adjacent to the rear corners of said drawer member and engaging said guideways and ledges on said side members in advance of said extensions and enacting with said studs to support said drawer member, in a tilted position, the front walls of said extension forming closures for the forward ends of said horizontal ;uideways and acting as stops for the studs to limit the outward movement of the d r awer.

A. device of the class described comprising a frame including horizontal side members having guideways extending to points at a distance back of the forward ends there of, and terminating in upwardly disposed extensions located at said points on said side members and in which said guideways terminute, a drawer member slidably mounted on said frame, studs projecting from the sides of said d "awer adjacent to the rear corners thereof, and engaging said guideways, the front walls of said extensions forming stops for said studs to limit the outward movement of the drawer, ledges on said side members in advance of said extensions and coacting with said lugs to support the drawer in a tilted position, and a spacing; hip; adjacent each of said ledges for preventing lateral movement of said drawer.
