, OF ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA.
ICE-CRUSHER.
which a piece of ice can be easily and quickly reduced to a crushed condition.
The invention consists generally in various constructions and combinations, all as hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
Inthe accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a top view of an ice-crusher embodying my inve 1- tion. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view illustrating the construction of the same. Fig. 3
is a vertical sectional view on the line w-w of Fig. 2. t isa front view of the device. Y A
In the drawing, 2 represents a plate having key hole'slots 3 therein to receive screws 4 which are inserted into the wall. The lower end of the plate has a'serie's of notches 5 to receive similar screws for holding the plate securely against the wall.
(5 represents side lates or guards hinged to the back plate at '1, if preferred, to allow them to swing into the plane of the back plate against the wall, or these side plates may be rigidly mounted, if preferred. A strap 8 extends across the space between the side plates and forms a stop for a lever 9secured to a plate 10 that is pivoted at 11 on a bail 12 that is secured to said back plate and projects outwardly therefrom.
The plate, 2 is provided with a fixed crusher plate 13 removably secured by bolts 14 and having a series of teeth 15 formed thereon. These teeth taper to a point and are arranged sufficiently. near together to thoroughly crush the ice introduced. between them and the movable crushing plate 10 having a series of similar teeth 16, and to which plate 10 the lever 9 is secured. The teeth of these plates cooperate with one another to Specification of Letters Patent.

them, the length of the teeth preferably decreasing from the top toward the bottom of the crusher.
In Fig. 2 I have illustrated a modification which consists in providing teeth 17 that are punched or pressed out of the plates, the metal being of sufficient thickness to form rigid teeth that will be capable of crushing the ice introduced between them. The crusher plates may have key-hole slots 18, as illustrated in Fig. 3 to allow the plates to be easily and quickly mounted on their supports or removed.
I have shown the side guardsfi made of wood but do not confine myself to this material as Imay find sheet metal more desirable for certain places where the crusher is to be used.
To hold the movable crusher plate in its raised or vertical position I provide a hook 19 secured to the rear wall plate and adapted to be swung outwardly therefrom to engage the handle 9.
To use the device'the ice is put in at the top with a suitable receptacle arranged beneath on the floor and the operator grasping the handle 9 and forcing it inwardly toward the wall will bring the crusher teeth into 00- operating relation with one another and cause the rapid and uniform reduction of the ice.
' The device may be made in different sizes and is adapted for use wherever it is desired to crush ice for domestic or other purposes.
I claim as my invention:
1. .An ice crusher comprising a plate having meansfor attachment to a Wall, a series of teeth mounted on said plate and projecting outwardly therefrom, side plates hinged to said wall plate and adapted to swing back against the wall into the plane of said wall plate or move outwardly to a position paral-.
