This invention relates to leather treating apparatus, and more specially to moons for laying the dust in feathers as the some are being prepared for use as pillows, bed or cushions.

A very light and volatile oil is em loyecl, as the use of a heavy oil would iron or the furthertreetment of the feathers di'fficult and furthermore would leave them in such condition that they could not be emplo ed in high grade pillows, mattresses or cus ions.

To facilitate the atomization of the oil the same is heated and to heat the same, We preferably employ steam coil 18, submerged in the oil of the tank 5, 51 pipe 19 controlled by valve .20, supplying steam to the coil and a pipe 21 conducting the exhaust steam from the coil.

From the shove description it will be upperent that we have produced an apparatus for laying dust in feathers which operates efficiently and reliably, which can be easily controlled, and which is susceptible of modification in minor particulars Without departing l roni the principle of construction defined by the appended claims.

We claim:
