To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE P. KIRCHNER, a 'citizen of the United States, residing at Rifle, in the county of Garfield and State of Colorado, have invented a new and useful Gun-Clip, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to a gun clip for fire arms havin skeleton stocks.

The objecto? the present invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive, and eliicient gun clip adapted to be readily applied to the skeleton stocks of "arious styles and makes of fire arms, and capable of holding a number of shells or cartridges in convenient position to enable the same to be easily and quickly loaded into a gun to facilitate rapid firing thereof.

A further object of the invention is to provide agun clip of this character, designed particularly for skeleton stock fire arms with two barrels of different calibers, and adapted to hold ammunition suitable for use in each barrel.

\Vith these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction and novel combination of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended, it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction, within the scope of the claims, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

In the drawing: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a fire arm equipped with a gun clip constructed in accordance with this in vention. Fig. 2 is a side view of the gun clip. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional View on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. l is a plan View, a portion of the body being in section.

Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawing.

In the accompanying drawing, in which is illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention, the gun clip comprises in its construction a tapered body 1 conforming to the interior configuration of a skeleton stock 2 of a fire arm 3, and designed to substantially fill the opening within the stock 2, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawing.

The body 1, which may be made of any suitable material, may conveniently consist of two separate side plates 4 constructed of sheet metal and riveted or otherwise secured together, each of the side plates being equipped with a longitudinal series of cartridge holders 5. By making the body in two separate plates or members, the gun clip is especially adapted for use in connection with fire arms having two barrels 6 and 7 of different calibers, as the plates or members 4 may be conveniently provided with cartrid 'e holders of different sizes, as illustrated in Fig. 4 of the drawing. The body is secured Within the opening of the skeleton stock'2 by resilientclamps 8, consisting of sleeves embracing the upper and lower portions of the skeleton stock and having spaced terminals 9 forming ears and secured to the side faces of the body 1 by transverse bolts 10 or other suitable fastening means. The clamps 8 are arranged in pairs at the upper and lower edges of the body, but any number of such clamps may, of course, be

employed. The clamps are designed to firmly engage the upper and lower portions of a skeleton stock, so as to secure the gun clip rigidly within the opening of the said stock.

The cartridge holders, which are constructed of resilient material, are of substantially cylindrical form, and have their side portions spaced apart at the front and tapered or cut away at the ends, to facilitate the introduction and removal of the shells or cartridges. The ammunition is held in convenient position at each side of the stock of the fire arm, and may be easily and quickly removed from the holders, thereby greatly facilitating rapid firing.

What is claimed is:

1. A gun clip including a body, means for securing the body within the opening of a skeleton stock, and cartridge holderscarried by the said body.

2. A gun clip including a body designed to fit within the opening of a skeleton stock and conforming to the configuration of the same, means r securing the body to a skeleton stock, and cartridge holders carried by the body.

3. A gun clip including a body designed to be arranged within the opening of a skeleton stock and tapered to conform to the configuration of the same, clamps consisting of sleeves adapted to embrace the upper and PatenteolSept. 8, 1914.

A gun clip including a body designed to be arranged within the opening of a skeleton stock and composed of separate side plates or members, means for securing the body to a skeleton stock, and lon 'tudinal rows of cartridge holders, mounted on the said plates or members at the outer-faces thereof.
