Preferably formed integral with the shank portion 14 of the hemmer is a fixed scroll part 22 which cooperates with an adjustable v scroll part 23 carried by a looped member 24 the-upper limb of which is provided'with a Y shank portionof the hemmer, so thatthe said looped member 24 will be guided by the said rib when adjusted laterally and-will be steadied thereby when secured in. any desired position of adjustment by means of the setscrew 27 tapped in said rib. Beneath the base'of the headof the said screw 27 is preferably placed a washer 28 which overlies portions of the upper limb of the said adjustable loopvmember and bears. directly thereon.
