rEhe nature of my invention consists inthe construction and arrangement of a stake-and-rail fence, as will be hereinafter'fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art 4to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will 'now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referringto the annexed drawing which represent a perspective View of my fence.
A A represent sills or bed-pieces, upon each ot which is placed an upright post, B.
The upper ends ofthe posts B B are provided with tenons which pass through holes in the ends of a rail, '0. This rail thus connects two posts, B B, as shown in the drawing.
y On each side of each post B a stake, D, is inserted in vthe grounchsaid stakes at each end ofthe rail C resting on said rail and crossing each other above the same.
In the crotch formed by the stakes D D is laid 'a top rail, E, which completes the fence.
This fence can be made of any kindof lumber, is portable, and can readily be taken dcwn'and pnt np again, as occasion may require. p
Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The sills A A, posts B1B, and rails G G, in combination with the stakes D D and rails E E, all con- 'strncted and arranged substantially as shown and described.
