IMPROVEMENT IN FIRE-SCREENS AND STANDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 110,844, dated January 10, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HUGO 0. FRITSCH, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a Combined Fire-Screen and Stand; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
This invention consists in the combination ot'a fire-screen with a stand for fire-irons or other articles, whereby a compact and cheap piece of furniture is produced, which is both useful and ornamental.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of my combined fire-screen and stand, and Fig. 2 is a perspective back view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate c0rresponding parts in both figures.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation with reference to the drawings.
The screen A is represented as made of a sheet of metal, papier-mach, or other material having suflicient rigidity to preserve its shape when exposed to the tire; but it may be made of lighter material mounted on a suitable frame. It may be formed and painted to represent any figure, device, or designas, for instance, a vase of flowers or an animal, as shown in the drawings. To the back of this screen there is attached a stiffening-rod or standard, B, and near its bottom a pan, G, to the rear of which is attached'a foot, 0, which combines with the bottom or lower edge of the screen to form the support of both screen and stand. To the standard B, or to the back of the screen itself, are attached arms D D, or a hoop or band'to support the upper parts of the fire-irons or other articles, the lower parts of which rest in the pan. What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combined fire-screen and stand, having its parts arranged substantially as herein described.
