My invention relates to an improved de vice or tool to be carried in the pocket, and which device or tool combines a key ring and cigar cutter, the principal object of my invention being to provide a combination pocket tool or device which can be easily and cheaply manufactured, and which can be conveniently carried in the pocket.

To the above purposes my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Referring by numerals to the accompanying drawings, 10 designates the main body of the tool or device, the same being formed of any desired metal. Formed integral with and projecting from one end of the body 10 is a finger 11, and formed on the corresponding end of the body immediately below this finger is a short, upwardly projecting hook 12. One corner of the opposite end of the body 10 is cut away, as designated by 13, and formed integral with the corresponding end of the body below this cut away corner is one end of an open loop or ring 1 1, the free end 15 of which terminates adjacent to the cut away corner 13 of the body 10. The end 15 of the loop or ring normally lies immediately below the plane occupied by the corresponding edge of the body 10 in order that a spring-held sliding member, hereinafter described, may overlie said end 15, thereby normally closing the opening between said end and the edge of the cut away corner 13. The loop or ring, being formed of a resilient metal, readily gives to one side or the other when a key is to be positioned in the ring or removed therefrom.

Formed through the body 10 near the end provided with the finger 11 and hook 12 is an opening 16 adapted to receive the ends of cigars when said ends are to be removed. Arranged to slide upon one side of the body 10 is a plate 17, the edges 18 of which are bent over the edges of said body 10, and the forward edge of this plate 19 is beveled and made sharp in order to form a cutter, which, when the plate 17 is properly manipulated, passes across the opening 16, thereby removing or cutting off the end of the cigar which occupies said opening.

Pressed outwardly from the body of the plate 17 is an elongated housing 20, which contains a compression spring 21, and the rear end of this spring bears against a lip or projection 22 that is pressed from the body of the plate 10. This spring normally maintains the sliding plate 17 in the position seen in Figs. 1 and 3, with the rear end of said plate 17 overlying the opening into the key ring, and likewise overlying the free end 15 of the ring or loop.

When it is desired to clip the end from a cigar with my improved device, the end of the cigar is inserted through the opening 16 and the plate 17 is now moved forward by applying the thumb or finger to the top of the housing 20, the surface of which is milled or corrugated to form a firm bearing for the thumb or finger, and as the plate is thus moved forward the sharpened edge 19 moves across the opening 16, thus severing the projecting end of the cigar. This movement of the plate 17 is against the resistance offered by the spring 21, and as soon as the clipping operation has been accomplished, the power stored in the spring 21 restores the plate to its normal position. l/Vhen the plate 17 is moved forward on the body 10 a key can be readily positioned upon or re moved from the ring 11, as shown by dotted lines in Fig. 2.

A combination tool or device of my im proved construction is very compact, can be easily and cheaply manufactured, and combines in one device a key ring and cigar cutter.

It will be readily understood that minor changes in the size, form and construction of my improved combination implement can be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from the spirit of my invention, the scope engaged with one side of said body member, sald plate having one end formed as a cut" ting edge and arranged to pass over the aperture in the body, said plate also having a longitudinally extending housing pressed from its central portion, said body member having a projection extending into said housing, and an e'xpansible spring held in said housing and engaging at its end with said projection and the end of said housing and normally holding the plate on the body .member to leave the aperture uncovered.
