The invention contemplates among other features, the provision of a 11e box which can be conveniently arranged upoh a desk land which provides a series of record holding members preferably arranged one behind the other, with each record member adapted to contain an individual record or account, the said record' carrying members being preferably inelosedor in some other 'manner suitably arranged so that a complete account or record of customers, eniployees or laborers can be readily kept in a compact form.

Each record holding member is preferably formed of a light metal such as aluminum or the like, and consists, more particularly, of a plate 15 having a cut away portion 1G at one corner thereof and terminating at its upper end in a forwardly extendadapted, however, to extend only a partial distance across the top of the plate 15 so that a suitable index tab 18 can be glued or otherwise secured to the upper edge of the plate 15 at its left hand corner and adjacent to one edge of the ledge 17. "The lower end of i the plate 15 is bent to form a forwardly extending horizontal bottom 19 and the for ward end of the bottom is bent upwardly to lorni a vertical spacing )late 20 and which also, together with the otlzom 19 and the plate 15, constitutes a pocket 21 in which individual files or records 22 can be easily arranged. From the foregoing description it will be apparent' that the device is of a simple construction: that any number ofrecord heldw'ithin a box body such as disclosed provided the lr-ox body is of suliicient length andy that th record holdin;r members can also bc arrarLr-d as shown, in a drawer or cabinet it desired.

A record holding member for a file box comprising` a plate, a laterally extending bottom ,formed with the plate, a. spacing plate formed with the said bottom and lying parallel to the first mentioned plate, means for supporting the record holding member in the box, and a second spacing plate formed with the first mentioned plats and projecting laterally from the upper ed thereof. i

5. ln a record holding' member for a tile box, a plate, a bottom formed with the plate, a spacing plate formed with the bottom, a second spacing plate projecting 'from the upper edge of the first mentioned plate, a rod adapted to'be journaled in the box, and a plurality of ears struck from the bottom and having the rod passing therethrough for swingingly supporting the record holding member in the said box. 6. ln a record holding member for a file box, a platea bottom formed with the plate, a spacing plate formed with the bottom, a second spacingr plate projecting from the upper edge'ot the first mentioned plate, a rod adapted to be jonrnaled in the box, a plu rality ot ears struck from tl e bottom and having' the rod passing therethrough 'for swingingly supporting' the record holding member in the said box, and a spring; formed with the first mentioned spacing plate and projecting from its medial portion 'for holding' files or records on the record holding member.
