When my novel lid or cover is used on a combination range, and coal or other hardfuel is consumed in the range, it is preferable not to use the skirt member 6, this in order that the draft in the flue below the hole 2 may be unobstructed. WVhen the lid or cover is so used, the lower member 4 is adjusted afterthe fire is well started so as to place its perforations in registration with the perforations of the upper member 5, and permit the direct passage gt heat to a utensil disposed on the mem- The skirt member 6 is designed especially for use when the burner 3 isemployed, and in such use of the skirt member it will be manifest that it will confine the flame and heated products of combustion between the burner and the under side of the lower disklike member 4, and will effectually prevent the draft in the flue under the stove-pipe from drawing-the said flame and products of combustion toward the up-take of the stove or range. In this connection, however, it will be noticed that the notches 15 in theupper edge of the skirt member 6 form eduction openings through which consumed gases can pass to the flue under the top 1. This will be appreciated as an important advantage when it is stated that the said consumed gases would be very obnoxious were they permitted to pass into the apartment in which the stove or range is located. It will further be noted that the eduction apertures formed by the notches 15 in the skirt 6 assure the necessary draft through the burner and skirt to support combustion.
Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is:
1. A stove lid or cover comprising alower foraminous disk-like member having recesses in its perimeter and an upstanding projection on its upper side and also having depending hooks at points adjacent its perimeter; an upper disk-like foraminous member superimposed on the lower disklike member and having a slot receiving the projection on the lower member and also having at its perimeter lugs that depend through the recesses in the lower member and extend below said lower member; a central pivotal connection between the lower and upper disklike members; and an annular skirt member having radial projections removably arranged in the hooks of the lower disk-like member and also having 2. A stove lid or cover comprising a lower foraminous disk-like member having recesses in its pernneter, and an upper disklike foraminous member to which the lower member is pivotally connected; said upper member having at its perimeter depending lugs, disposed in said recesses of the lower member.
3. In a stove lid or cover, the combination with a disk-like member having hooks adjacent its perimeter, said hooks depending from said member and having openings in the upper portions of their sides; of a skirtmember having radial projections movable through openings of the depending hooks of the disk-like member and removably seated in said hooks. 1

A stove lid or cover, comprising a lower foraminous disk-like member having recesses in its perimeter, an upper disk-like foraminous member to which the lower disk-like member is pivotally connected; said upper member having at its perimeter lugs that depend through the recesses in the lower memher and extend below said lower member, and a skirt member arranged within the group of depending lugs on the upper member and connected with the lower member.
5. A stove lid or cover, comprising a lower foraminous disk-like member having recesses in its perimeter, an upper disk-like foraminous member to which said lower member is pivot-ally connected; said upper member having at its perimeter lugs that depend through the recesses in the lower member and extend below said lower member, de-
pending hooks on the lower disk-like member at points adjacent the perimeter thereof,
and a skirt member arranged within the group of depending lugs on the upper disklike member and having radial projections removably arranged in the said hooks.
6. A stove lid or cover, comprising a lower foraminous disk-like member having receses in its perimeter and also having an upstanding projection on its upper side, an upper disk-like foraminous member to which the lower disk-like member is pivotally connected; said upper member having a slot receiving the projection of the lower member and also having at its perimeter lugs that depend through the recesses in the lower member and extend below said lower member.
