Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July re, 1914.
Application filed September 24, 1913. Serial No. 791,611.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DELIA Nnseoon, a
subject of the King of England, residing at West Brighton, in the county of Rich-.
mond and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sanitary Supports for Napkins, of which the'following is a specification.
This invention relates to sanitary supports for napkins and it consists in the novel features hereinafterdescribed and claimed.
An object of the invention is to provide a simple and substantial support which is adapted to eflectually hold a napkln and from'which the napkin may be readily detached when desired.
"With the above objects in view the support comprises a sling of flexible water proof material which is folded longitudinally in the vicinity of its opposite side edges. Elastic members connect the folds together in the vicinity of the ends of the said sling and the napkin to be supported is adapted to be positioned in the sling under the said folds and under the said elastic members. The sling is provided at its ends with buttons or other suitable de-' vices which may be connected in the ends of straps and the said straps in turn are connected with a belt or band.
In the accompanying drawing :-Figure 1 is a perspective View of the support. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detailed View of a portion of the same. Fig. 3 is a sectional view out on the line 33 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a similar view out on the line44 of Fig. 2.
The support comprises a sling 1 which is made from water proof flexible material and which is provided in the vicinity of its longitudinal edges with folds 2. These folds are inwardly disposed toward each other and are spaced from each other. Elastic members 3 are connected with the folds 2 at the ends thereof and the said elastic members serve to draw the folds at the opposite siieportions of the sling 1 toward each ot er.
The napkin to be supported is. inserted under the folds 2 and the elastic members 3 and rests upon the intermediateportion of the sling 1. The napkin so'he'l-d may be readily detached from the slingand, may be as readily inserted in position thereon. The sling 1' lsprovided at its corner portions with buttons 4 which may be engaged with straps 5 attached to a belt 6.
The belt 6 is adapted to be passed around the waist and the straps 5 hang pendant ,so that when the buttons 4: are engaged with the straps the sling is held in proper position with relation to the wearer.
Having described the invention what is claimed is A napkin support comprising asling of flexible material folded in the vici ity of both of its longitudinal edges along two parallel lines whereby three plies of material are provided adjacent each longitudinal edge of the sling, the edges ofboth folds lying within the longitudinal edges of the sling whereby single plies only are provided at the edge portions of the sling, and elastic members connected at their ends with the said folded portions at points where the said material is arranged in three plies and at the outermost folds of the plies.
In testimony whereof I affix my signatui in presence of two witnesses.
DELIA NESGOOD.
