My invention embodies what may be designated as two parts, which combined serve the purpose of a ladys chemise and ladys drawers or so-'called knickers. The garment is made in the general form of a bag closed but open at the top, having arm and neck openings, and also open at the sides of the bottom, for leg openings. All of these openings may be equipped with ornamental finishing of any desiredcharacter, such as lace, frilli gs, and the like.

In the drawings, 1 represents the body of the garment. It is made of such fabric as desired. It is closed at the bottom, as at 2, after the fashion of a bag, and has a neck opening 3, and arm openings 4, at the top, and leg openings 5, 5, at the sides of the bottom. Drawstrings may be employed about the neck, if preferred, in a manner well known.

The bag-like body part is preferably en larged somewhat commencing, at about the waist line of the garment and extending -thence toits bottom, so as to provide more material for the hips and abdomen and seat of the wearer and to produce a petticoat effect.

At the upper end of one or both of the leg openings, I prefer to extend such opening as at (i, and provide. a series of buttons 7, or preferably snap fasteners, whereby one or both of the leg openings may be enlarged and closed at will for appropriate adjustspeciacauon of Letters tnt. In applying the garment, the legs of the wearer are thrust through the respective leg openings from the top. The garment is then pulled upwardly and4 the arms thrust through the respective arm holes and the garment adjusted about the neck by the draw strings or otherwise.

It will be noted that when the garment is upon the body of the wearer, it will assume the position substantially as shown in Fig. 2, that is to say, the legs will cause the leg openings to assume a diagonal position, the closed bottom of the bag-like body will be between the legs of the wearer, and while the width of the garment will be reduced lbecause of the rotundity'of the body of the wearer and will .therefore fit snugly about the body -in the upper part of the garment and at the sides, yet because of the enlarged lower portion of the body part, 'sufficient material will be present to hang softly and produce the appearance of a petticoat, while serving the function of a combinedY chemise and drawers` or so-called knickers.

A number of advantages are secured by the construction described. The cost will ordinarily be reduced as compared with the cost of the two garments separately and also because of the construction, no reinforcing material about what becomes the crotch in use will be necessary as is essential in ordinary drawers with crotch formation; the cost of finishing the bottom ofa chemise -and the top of a pair of knickers is avoided. Also the wear upon the lower part of the garment, owing to friction occasioned by leg movement, is very greatly reduced, all of economies. The garment automatically'adjusts itself to the body formation of the wearer without any drawing or straining and particu'- larly without any binding at the crotch as is usual in th'e case of an ordinary union suit, hence marked comfort is secured vand all parts of the pelvic region of the wearer are covered by the continuous bag-like garment, thus securing warmth and generally loosely gathered in upwardly extending folds which taken together, result in a' series of openings at its upper end and a continuousr closed bag-likebottom, and Vertical leg)1 openings at each side, one at least of said leg openings being extended upwardly t0- ward the waistline and provided with sultable fastening devices. 16`
