IMPROVEMENT IN FRUIT AND VEGETABLE-PARERS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part o the same.
I,- HENRY SOGGS, of Celnmbus, county of \Varren and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in Knives for Paring and Slicing Fruit and Vegetables.
Nature and Object of the Invention.
The first part of my invention relates to the cornbining of a revolving sleeve with the arm of a guard for paring and slicing-knives in such a manner as to relieve the friction between the knife and the guard.

General Description..
K is the knife, which may be of any ordinary pattern.
A is an adjustable guard, fastened to the knife by means of the pivotfl, and passing through the handle and secured to the handle hy meansfof the washer G soldered to the pivot I, and adjusted hy means of the notches h.
(Z is a loose sleeve, turning upon the guard-arm A, and is used for the purpose. ot' reducing the friction between the knife-hlade and the arm of the guard A.
When not in use the guard A may be turned about the pivot I and secured to the handle by means ofthe groove H in the handle of the knife K.
