CONDIMENT-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 26, 1914.
Application filed April 5, 1913. Serial No. 759,178.
'ToalZ whom it may concern Be it known that l, WILLIAM B. Hnnnme,
" a citizen of the United States, residing at others as the case may be, will be retained therein through a simple and cfiicient means which is arranged in the cap.
Other objects as well as the nature, characterist-ic features and scope of my invention will be more readily understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims forming apart of this specification whereinz Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved device showing one of the perforated caps through which the contents is dispensed; Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 42-00 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a detail lan view oft-he valve member; and Fig. 4 1s a detail plan view of the battle member.
In the drawings the numeral 0 indicates the body portion ofmy 'mproved device which is of a gsubstantially cylindrical shape and is composed of metal otany other suit able material and is preferably tapered toward the base 5 being provided with a partition 6 arranged therein and externally screw threaded nipples 7 formed on the side thereof.
A. cap 8 is provided which has an internal screw thread so as to'be threaded on the nipple 7 and has a series of perforations 9 suitably arranged in the top thereof. A disk shaped. valve member 10 is secured to said top through the medium of a rivet or any other suitable means having a plurality of slots 11 formed therein and a stud 12 carried on the one side thereof. 7 A bathe 13 which is preferably of a conical shape is concentrically arranged in the cap 8 and is secured by the same fastening means as the valve member 10, to the top thereof. When it is desired to dispense the contents of one of the compartments the slots 11 of the valve memher 10 are turned, through the medium of the stud 12 which extends through an arcuate recess 14 on the cap 8, into alinement with the perforations 9 of the cap. lit is obvious therefore that while the contents of one of'thc compartments is being dispensed that the contents of the other compartment will be retained to a certain extent therein, when the holder is-vibrated in the usual manner, through the medium of the battle member 13, as the holder is tilted in a diagonal or horizontal position while the contents thereof is being dispensed. It will also be obvious that when the compartments are to be filled the cap 8 is threaded from the nipple 7 and the desired species of condiment poured through the opening.
It will be understood that the abovedescription'and accompanying drawings comprehend only the general and preferred embodiment of my invention and that various minor changes in details of construction, proportion and. arrangement of the parts may be made within the scope of the appended claims and without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secureby Letters Patent is 1. 'A condiment holder in combination with a receptacle comprising a plurality of compartments each of which is provided with an opening, a perforated cap detachably mountedv over eachof said openings, and a battle in connection with said cap, said bathe comprising a single sheet of metal bent into a substantially conical configuration and having'its point of securement at the apex thereof for the purpose specified.
2.' A condiment holder including a recep tacle comprising a plurality of compartments each of which is provided with a lateral outlet opening in proximity to the top of the receptacle, a perforated cap detachably mounted over each of said outlets, and a coneshaped baffle movably associated with each of said caps having the apex thereof lying adjacent the cap and the enlarged end communicating with the interior of the compartment whereby the adhering of the condiment crossing through the cap is eliminated.
3. A condiment holder including a receptacle comprising a plurality of compartments each of which is provided with an ex ternally screw threaded nipple through which access is obtained to the interior of sage of condiments thereby and through the respective compartments, the usual persaid perforated cap. 1 forated cap being detachably mounted on In testimony whereof I affix my signature each of said nipples, and a cone-shaped battle in presence of two witnesses.
movably associated with each of said caps, WILLIABI B. HERRING. the outer periphery of the enlarged end of Witnesses: the cone being in spaced relation to the inner G. P. MCNEEL, periphery of the nipple to allow for the pas- I C. P. DANIEL.
