IMPROVEMENT IN DOVETAILlNG-MACHINES.

The Schedule referred to in these Lettera Patent and making part or the same.

To all whom 'it 'may concern:

Be it known that I, Joux B. Sellano, of Salen, in the county of Roanoke and State of Virginia, have invented a new" and useful Improvement in Dovetail-A ing-Machines; and I do hereby declare that the-following is a l'lill, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference heilig had to the accompanying drawing forming part ot' this specification;

.f'lhis invention relates to improvements in dovetailing-machines, and consists in certain new and improved arrangements of the common foot-power mortising-niaoliines, whereby they may be convert-ed into dovetailing-machines, and yet preserve them for ae' tion as mortisingmachines.

extensionl of the lower part of the support A, the curved bar L, and a clamping-bolt and'nut or other device for holding the upper part A of the support in the oblique position seen `in dotted lines M, or in the reverse position, whereby the apparatus may be used for cutting the oblique walls of the tenons for making the dovetail points, the boards being moved up to the ehisels in lines parallel with the table.

. ".For cutting the notches withvertieal walls oblique `to the edges ot' the boards, I use a feeding-table, similar to that described in another application for "a patent for improvements in dovetailing-maohines, bearing even date herewith and marked ease A'.

I also propose to make the chisel-stocks B adj ustable vertically for varying the depth of cutting, and for this purpose I provide the adj listing-nuts N, screwing on ,to them above the upper support O, more or less, as theehisels are required to work higher or lower relatively to the table, the downward movement of the chisel being limited bythe nut.
