To all whom it may concern:

."Be it known that I, MAnYLomsu HILL: YER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Goliad, in the county ofGoliad and State of Texas, have invented certain new anduseful Improvements in'Beds, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to a bed attachment and the rincipal object of the invention is to provi e a device which will serve as a back rest for an invalid. v

Another object of the invention is to so construct the back rest that itmay be conveniently connected with the'bed'so that it may be angularly disposed.

Another object of the invention is to so mount the back rest that it will he out-of the way when not in use, but which does not need to be removed from the bed when it is desired to use the same. I

With these and other objects in view, this invention consistsofcertain novel combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed. I

This invention is intended as an attach ment for a bed which is provided with the head board 10 and foot board 11 which are connected by side rails 12. These side rails 12 form supports for the slats 13 by-which the springs and mattress. 14 are supported.

When the device is not in use, the backrest-is raised to the position shown in Fig. 1 with the catch 27 engagin the pin 28 as shown in Fig. 5, thus hol bracket frame in the vertical position. The back supporting board is also raised to the position with the rod 24fitting into the notches 33. This will hold the'backrest securely in a folded position and prevent any danger of its accidentally slipping loose.
