lMPROVEMENT IN MQPHHEADS.

To all whom. yit may concern v Be it known that I, FERNANDO C. KENDALL, of Hertford, in the county of Washington and Stat-e of Wisconsin, have invented certa-in new and useful Im proveniente in ll'lop-Hendsg and I do herebydeolare the following to be u full, clear, nud exact description ofthe sinne, reference being hed to the accompanying drawing forming part oi' this specification, in which- Figure l is u side elevation 'of my improved mophead, und' Figure 2 is nu end elevation of the saune.'

My invention hasfcr its object to provide un infn proved mop-heudg und lt consists in the peculiar construction of ihe suine, which l will now proceed to describe in detail.

It is nlso provided, at euch end, with n `lnteral arm, J, which projects downward between the arms of. the loops, to bear upon the journals of the upper roller E.

G is the upper pressurehar, fitted upon the loops G in ou manner similar to the lower bar, and adopted to receirethe pressure of the set-screws K, which pues through the top ber of the mop-heed.

L are spirnl springs, held between the pressurebzirs by menus of projections m, formed upon the lutter; as shown.

My improved mop-heed is operated inthe following,r

The mop-cloth is first placed between the rollers, und the set-.screws K turned down te compress the springs, the pressure oi which is exerted upon the `may be changed; but it is pre'ernbie to ,arrange shaft of the upper roller, through the medium of the lower pressure-bnr and its letterala-rms J.

By the arrangement of the two pressurebars und springs, the pressure upon the upper roller is rendered uniform,`nud the mop-cloth held securely in pince et each end of the head.

Then it is desired to wring the cloth, the crankhandle H is turned in one direction, and then iu the opposite direction, to express the wuter from each end ofthe cloth. It is finally turned iu the rst direction, to bring the center of the cloth in Contact with the rollers, in which position it is again ready for use.

By'the employment of therubher-covered roller, in connection with the wooden roller, the operation oi 'wringing the cloth is greatly facilitated, inasmuch as the friction upon the rubber is greater than upon the wood, and also from the l'nct that the addition of the rubber incr-enses the diameter ol' the upper roiler.
