IMPROVEMENT IN ROSES FOR DOOR-KNOBS.
The Schedule referred-to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all ywhom it lmay concern Be it known that I, JOHN J. Hnxnnnsox, o1' the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Back for Porcelain Door-Roses andI do hcrcbydcclare that thc following is a full, clear,` and exact description thereof, which will enableothers skilled in the art to make and use the saine, reference hcinfer had to thc accompanying drawiur tin-ming part of this specification, in which tho dran-imar represents a central section ot my improved hack f'or porcelain doorroses.
This invention relates to a new cast-metal back for porcelain door-roses, and has t'or its object to so coilstruct the same that both the thimble holding the rose as well as the spindle of the lock will iind a reliable .support in said back.
The invention consists in providing the hack A with an outward-projecting tube, u, which is so muchjarger than the central orifice oi" said hack that a shoulder, b, is left between the two.
The tube a has an inner scrcwthrcad -to receive the thimhle B that is screwed upon it, the outer auge c of said thimhlc serving to confine the rose to its place.
'.lhe inner end ol' the thimble tits nearly or entirely against the shoulder b, after which enough of the latter remains uncovered to serve as a support for the end otl the shank cl ot' the door-knob D.
That part of the shank l which is concealed in the thimhle contains the screw c, by which the -knob is secured to the spindle, and said screw is, therefore, also concealed and protected.
The back is, by screws f f, secured to the door, the said screws being covered and concealed by the rose, as shown.
