The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD B. ltonBrxs, of Adrian, in the county of Lenawee and State of Michigan, have invented a new and valuable ImprovementinNVood and Goal-Bumpers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters and tigures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawing is a front view of my i11- vention.
Figure 2 is a'central vertical section thereof.
My invention relates to means for loading the tendcr-ofa railroad-engine with wood or coal, and consists mainly in the novel construction and arrangement of devices intended to serve as an eflicient apparatus for the purpose named.
The letter A of the drawing designates the crane, consisting of an upright, :1, arm a, and braced. The upright may be pivoted toa rafter and floor-beam of the wood-shed, or to the transverse beam of a framework erected for the purpose.
The letter B designates the platform upon which the wood or coal is placed. This platform is designed to hold as much'as the tender will require. The front of the platform is supported by the transverse beam 1), the ends of which are pivoted to the ends of the bent bar 0, whereby it is suspended from the arm a of the crane. The rear of the platform is suspendedfrom the upper part of the brace a by means of the chain (1, at or near the center of which is secured the end of the operatinglever 0, which is pivoted to the upright a.
