ODE ISLAND, A CORPORATION OF RHODE- BOW-HOLDER.

To all whom it may concern:

' Be it known that I, ALBERT LANGE, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of Providence,.in the county of Fromdence and State of, Rhode Island, have in-' vented certain new and useful Improvementsin Bow-Holders, of which the following is a specification.-

, This invention relates to bow holders, and has for its object to provide such a device for readily'attaching a bow of ribbon, or

to the hair other similar ornamental device,

A feature of importance in my improved construction is the" form or' shape of the detent member which is that of a single broad faced hook with a taperin smoothly rounded end, which construction has a number of advantages. First, it has no sharp points or edges to catch and become entangled in the hair of the wearer, Second, the effect of the tapering and rounded end of the detent is suchthat when the bridge portion 21 of the wire clasp engages this end, even though the. light Wire may be sprung out of line, it will at once upon entering the hook be drawn by its tapered edges back into alinement to the center of the hook and the broad bearing will retain 2 {the flexible wire in true or level position.

It is found in practice that where more than one hook is usedas a detent, owing to. the flexibility of the wire clasp, that oftentimes but one of the hooks become engaged thereby, which at once throws the clasp out of alinement and the bow will not be properly held in therequired position.

I claim A bow holder comprising a base plate 1 being also provided with a detent on its opposite side, and a clamp member formed of a single iece of wire bent at its middle portion to orm a transverse detentengaging portion and parallel resilient arches, the ends of the wire being bent inward at substantially right angles and each passed partway through said joint loop'land their extremities extended downward through said aperture, said extremities being adapted to engage the edge of said notched end to limit the backward swing and to engageone edge of said aperture to limit the forward swing of said clasp member.
