JAMES KENNETH POTE-AT, OF DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA.
FINGER ATTACHMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 31, 1914.
Application filed March 10, 1913. Serial No. 753,444.
To all whom it may, concern:
Be it known that 1, JAMES KENNETH POTEAT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Durham, in the county of Durham and State of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Finger Attachments, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention comprehends certain new and useful improvements in finger attachments and has for a primary object to provide a device of this character which will be of extremely simple construction, may be readily attached to the finger or removed from the same and will assist in separating papers.
Another object is to provide a device of this character which will be of extremely simple construction, cheap to manufacture, and which will be especially adapted for use in counting paper money, etc.
A further object is to generally improve and simplify the construction of devices of this character and reduce the cost of the same to the minimum, thereby greatly increasing the commercial value of the article.
lVith the above and other objects in view, this invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view through the device; and Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view thereof.
Referring more specifically to the drawings in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, 1 designates the band which is formed of resilient metal with its opposite ends engaged through the rubber link 2, as shown at 3 with the extremities bent back and secured to the main portion of the band, as shown at 4. In the bottom of the band 1 I have provided a suitable opening 5 within which I have secured a rubber plug 6 having its end outwardly of the band enlarged, as clearly shown in Fig. 1,, whereby the plug 6 will readily engage and separate the papers, when the device is properly positioned upon the finger.
While I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, I wish it to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction may be made within the scope of the appended claim, without departing from the spirit of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is A finger attachment for separating papers comprising a transversely split metallic fin ger encircling ring, a flexible ring engaged through the ends of the transversely split ring to connect the same, said split ring having a central opening, and a paper engaging member secured in the opening and having its head engaged against the outer face of the split ring.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
JAMES KENNETH POTEAT.
