JEAN MARIE NICOLAS MANENT, OF TOULOUSE, FRANCE.
FASTENER FOR POCKET-LIGHTERS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 10, 19 M.
Application filed July 30, 1912. Serial No. 712,331.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JEAN Manic NICOLAS h TANEN'JT, a citizen of the French Republic, residing at Ll Rue Gambetta, Toulouse, France, have invented new and useful Iniprovenients in Fasteners for Pocket-Lighters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to cases such as are adapted for use in connection with antomatic light strikers and more especially to fttStCHtBlS thereitor.
The prii'icipal object oi? the invention is to i1i'i )i'ove the general construction of devices of this character.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and co1nbination of parts hereinafter tally described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, like charactors of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and Figure 1 is an elevation as seen from outside, with the hinged lid raised. Fig. 1 is a detail view. Fig. 2 is an elevation oi? the casing partly in section to show all the inner parts, with the lid raised as in Fig. 1.
This device consists of a casing 1 having a lid 2 hinged as at 3. The lighting wheel 9 common to such devices is mounted on an axis 10 left hand screwed in a frame 11 made integral with the :age 7; the said wheel is hollowed and has a projecting shoulder and three holes one of which is shown on the drawing as 12 for ei'igaging a spring 13 shaped as shown in the drawings and the bent part 1?) of which is hooked to a rod 14.- extending through the lid 2 so as to limit the opening of the latter. Such opening is effected ai'itomatically under the action of a spring 15, called operating spring, when disengaging the snap fastening 16 which enacting with the locking-pin 17 keeps the lid closed. i
\Vhen it is desired to strike a light, which operation is effected autonniticall'y while opening the lid 2, the locking-pin 17 must be disengaged from the snap-fastening and this result can be obtained by operating a stud 18, guided in a bayonet slot 19, which on being lifted up carries with it an inner unlocking bolt 20 which presses against the tongue 16 and disengages the opening 16 in the latter from the locking pin 17. Then the lid opens automatically. The unlockingbolt 20 is returned to its lower position, at the same time as the operating stud 18, by means of a spring 91 connected at its lower end to a stopper 22 which can he taken out when it is desired to take the mechanism to pieces. In the interior of the lid is also arranged an extinguisher 33 which upon the lid being closed cxtinguishes the flame wick 23, and the tinder wick 29.
Having thus particularly described and ascertained the nature of my invention and in what manner it is to be carried out what I claim is In automatic pocket lamps having a reccptacle provided with a bayonet slot and a lid hinged thereto, locking means for said receptacle consisting of a latch on said lid having a cam portion and a lug on said receptacle, a manually operated bolt having a stud projecting through said slot and adapted to he moved vertically and rotated horizontally against said earn portion for disengaging said latch from said lug, sub stantially as described.
in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
JEAN lllMtIll NICOLAS MANEN'I.
