Description

L. SQDANIELS.
STEAM RADIATOR.
No. 108,9782 PAtented'N-v. 8,1870.
Xmrum' AMMYMQM/ LEWIS s DNIELS, or roXBosoUeH, MASSACHUSETTS.
Letters Patent No.'108,978, datedNovexber 8, 1870.-
IMPROVEMENT IN STEAM-RAolAroRs.
The Schedule referred to in these Lettera Patent and making part ol the lame.
To all whoml n 'muy concern.-
I, LEWIS S. DANIELs, of Foxborougli, in the county y spective.
Figure 2 isa vertical section ofthe same. v Figure 3 is au end view, showing a. portion ofthe division-plate H' within the lower part A of the radi-- ator.
Figure 4 is'a cross-scction of one of the vertical pipes'. y
Figure 5 is a pex'spective;vie\'v of one of, the caps and its stem. I
General Desciptiom One of the leading features of my invention is that the uprights B B' are castas aV single piece with the horizontal part A, the number of thc' uprights B B' beingv varied to suit the amount of heating-surface desired.
@Another feature is the shown in iig. 2.
This division-plate startsii'om the lower part of the lower pipe A andextends upward nearly to the top of the vertical pipe, as shown in fig. 2.
vertical division-plate H,
The upper ends of the division-plates are provided with bosses K K', into which. the stem of the caps I) and E screw. The cap D is beveled, asshown in iig. 2,'and is heid iu position by means of the stem L, which screws into the vsocket K. A
The cap E is rabbeted, as shown iu iig. 2, andv is held iu position .by means of the stem L', which screws into the socket K'. n
The caps C and C are screwed outo'theeuds of the lower radiator, as showuzin figs. 1 aud 2.
The division-plates .H and Hf are. pelforated near the bottoni, as shown at p and p, figs, -2 audg, so as to allowl the water of condensation to flow through.
, The .connecting-pipe' for direct steam and. for return vmay be` attached by any of the improved methods.,
By my arrangement 'I' secure great economy of construction'l as wenas-simplicity and security against leakage.
Another', aud perhaps the .most important feature" of this invention, is that I secure a most perfect circulation of steam over-and againstthe'eutire 'sur face of the radiator, and without interfering iu the least with the circulation of .the water of condensa? tion. I l I claim as my invention- 'A steam-radiator, consistingoi the tube A',up
rights B CB', 4the vertical perforated divisions H H', secured by means j of stem lL and socket K, surmountc'd vhy ca'p D, when constructed aud arranged as shown and described, and for the purpose specicd. v i ,j
