To all Whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HARRY GREENWOOD, Sr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Barnesboro, in the county of Cambria and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Chair Attachment, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to improvements in chair attachments, one object of the present invention being the provision of an attachment adapted. to be particularly used in connection with a barber or dentists chair, the same being so disposed as to readily carry the instruments or other paraphernalia necessary for immediate use, adjacent to the chair, the same being so constructed and attached, as to permit of the ready swinging and locking of the same in any desired adjustment.

A further object of the present invention is the provision of a novel form of supporting means for a tray or rack, the same being vertically adjustable and horizontally rotat-able, the means for vertically adjusting the same also constituting a locking means to hold the same in any fixed adjustment, in or out of use.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the 'invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Fig. is a perspective view of a modified form of attaching device. Fig. 6 is a side elevation of the attachment provided with a sub-platform to prevent the too far positioning therewithin of bottles or the like.

1 designates a metal clamping device, whose long terminal 2 is connected to the chair C in any well known manner, while the short terminal 3 is the resilient terminal and is held so as to produce a proper clamping effect upon the sleeve by means of the screw 4:. Disposed for vertical adjustment within the clamp 1 is a tubular support 5, whose upper edge is provided with the ridges 6 and the depression 7, the purpose of which will presently appear. Mounted telescopically, both for vertical and rotating movements within the tubular support 5 above the upper convolute end thereof is a cylindrical support 8, provided with a plurality of transverse apertures 9 therethrough adjacent its lower end. Disposed removably within these apertures 9 is a headed pin 10, which is disposed to project beyond the outer circumference of the rod 8 and fit within the diametrically disposed recesses 6 of the member 5, and thus hold the rod 8 against turning. It is evident that the rod 8 may be turned manually but that the positioning of the pin within the diametrically disposed recesses 6 will tend to hold the same against accidental movement. The upper end of rod 8 is provided with the arm 11, which is secured to and carries the circular shelf or platform 12, which has up standing concentrically thereof the bottle supporting member 13, whose upper end is eoncaved as at 14. for the antifrictional ball bearing 15. Disposed to fit upon the upper end of the support 13 and incase the ball 15, is a socket member 16, which is connected to and carries the shelf 17. This shelf 17 is provided with apertures 18 for the reception of bottles or the like while disposed therethrough, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2, is a slot 19, which is in registration with the outlet end of the paper carrying member 20, there being disposed upon the upper face of the shelf 17 in parallel with the slot 19 a paper cutter 21. A roll of paper is placed within the container 20 and has its free end directed through the slot 19 above the cutter, as clearly shown in Fig. 52, so that paper may be torn therefrom as desired. When it is desired to provide a sub-platform or shelf below the platform 17 the de vice is constructed and arranged as shown in Fig. 6, a sub-shelf 17 being employed.

a plate 22 is provided and has the parallel apertured lugs 23, by means of which the Cir same may be attached to the arm or any portion of a chair, the same displacing the terminal 2 of the clamp device 1. The plate is slotted at 2% and has slidably mounted therein the guiding pin 25, the upper one 26 of which is a clamping device and both of which pierce the upright portion 27 of the sleeve engaging bail or arm 28. A clamp 29 is carried by the bail portion for locking the same to the sleeve 5. Any number of shelves 17 may be used in superposed relation.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings, it is evident that rack or attachment constructed according to the present invention, may be readily attached to a dentists or barbers chair, and that the shelf containing the va rious necessities, such as instruments to be used, may be readily positioned thereupon and when desired may be moved to and from the position above the seat portion of the chair, the pin 10 and the corrugated portion of the tubular member 5 providing a means for locking the same in either position against accidental displacement yet permitting the same to be readily rotated to assume either one of the desired positions. By
