MORRIS HANDELSMAN AND PHILIP ROSENBLUM, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
CLASPING- DEVICE FOR GARMENTS AND OTHER ARTICLES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 17, 1914.
Application filed October 29, 1912. Serial No. 728,368.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, MORRIS HANDELS- MAN and PHILIP RosENBLUM, both of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Glasping Devices for Garments and other Articles, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to an improved clasping device which can be attached to the supporting member of any fastening device either directly or by means of links or in any other well known manner.
The object of our invention is to provide a clasping device that will not tear, fray or injure the garment or article which it clasp's.
It is easily adapted to be used in connection with a variety of garment supporters and supporters for articles made of cloth and fabric materials. It can be adapted to be used in connection with suspenders, hose supporters, curtain and portiere hangers, and display hangers of various kinds.
Our improved clasping device is illustrated as used in connection with a pair of suspenders for trousers and the like, wherein it is not necessary to have any buttons whatsoever upon the trousers.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of our device used in connection with a pair of suspenders. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same. Figs. 3 and L are side and front views of our device.
Referring more specifically to the drawings, 1 is the lower part of the strap or web of a pair of suspenders of any well known form or make having a link 2to which is attached a link 3. Attached to the link 3 is a connecting link 4: to which is attached one or more and preferably two of our improved clasping devices 5. The clasping device 5 is bent at the part engaging the link 4 to form a ring head part 8 having two extending arm parts 13 and 14. The extending arm part 13 has an inward bend 12 at its lower extremity and terminates in a round head engaging member 10. The extending part 1a terminates in a loop 11 in the same plane with said arm part 14. A solid recessed button head 9 preferably in the shape of a than the recess in said button head 9. The
link 6 is slidably mounted on the extending arm parts 13 and 14C and is for the purpose of locking the device as will hereinafter appear.
In the illustrated exemplification of our invention, the link 3 is attached to link 2 of the pair of suspenders and the upper edge of the trousers 7 is placed between the round head 10 and the recessed button 9,and the sliding link 6 is pushed down upon the arms 13 and 14. until the garment is tightly clasped between the walls of the button 9 and the head 10.
It can be easily seen that our clasping clevice can be used in a variety of ways, and that the ring head portion 8 of our device can be attached to the suspending or supporting member of any fastening device either directly or by means of an additional link or links or in any well known manner.
That we claim is: V r
A clasping device comprising a ring-head portion, an extending arm portion terminating in a loop in the same plane therewith, a solid recessed member in the shape of a seg ment of a hollow sphere secured with the convex side outward to the outside of said loop, a second arm portion bent near its extremity to an approximately right angle bend, a solid engaging member at the extremity of said bend, said engaging member being substantially smaller than the recessed portion of said recessed member and adapted together with the arm of said bend attached to said engaging member to enter said recessed portion, and means for looking said engaging and said recessed members together.
