DAVID B. BARTEL, OF HOOKER, OKLAHOMA.
ATTACHMENT FOR STOVES.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, DAVID B. BARTEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hooker, in the county of Texas and State of Oklahoma, have invented new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to attachments for stoves, the object in view being to provide what I term an auxiliary heater for hydrocarbon stoves, by means of which a portion of the heat derived from a single burner may be transmitted to a point slightly remote from the said heater, where it may be used for heating, to a less degree, articles which have already been cooked over the main burner.
Vith the above. and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a vertical section of the attachments shown applied to a stove. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the attachment partly broken away.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates an ordinary gas or oil stove provided with a plurality of holes 2 and 3, beneath which the burners are ordinarily located, 4 designating burners of any suitable construction, arranged under said holes.
The attachment comprises an inverted frusto-conical body 5 which is adapted to fit partially over the burner 4f, as shown in Fig. 1, said body being provided at its upper edge with a anged seat 6, having an upwardly extending rim or flange 7 adapted to retain in place a baliie ring 8 which rests upon the seat 6, as shown. At a suitable distance from the body 5 is arranged another relatively shallow body 9 of cylindrical construction, and provided with an annular seat 10 surrounded by an upstanding rim or flange 11. The space between the main and auxiliary heater bodies is such as to bring the two heater bodies over adjacently located stove holes. Detachably supported on the seat 10 is a distributing ring 12 having a circular series of perforations 13 permitting the heated air to flow outwardly in an upward direction.

serial No. 723,351.
Connecting the auxiliary and main heaters is a hot air tubular conduit 15 which communicates with the main body 5, just below the baffle ring 8, said baffle ring serving to divert a portion of the hot air and products of combustion, and cause the same to pass through the hot air conduit 15 into the body of the auxiliary heater 9. In the bottom of this auxiliary heater 9, I prefer to arrange an upwardly inclined or curving deflector 16, which will direct theheat and products of combustion upward and against the bottom of a receptacle placed upon the distributing ring 12. The hole in the bottom of the auxiliary heater, formed by deplacing the deflector 16 therefrom, provides for an up-draft for the second stove-hole.
Vhile the auxiliary heater 9 is not particularly adapted for cooking purposes, it has been found admirably adapted for keeping in a heated condition articles which have been previously cooked over the main burner.
Vhat is claimed is:
An attachment for vapor stoves, comprising an inverted hollow frusto-conical main body open at the top and bottom and adapted to set into a stove hole close to and concentric with an underlying burner and having a maximum diameter at the top greater than the stove hole, an auxiliary open top cylindrical body in such spaced relation to the main body, as to register with an adjacent stove hole, a bottom plate for said auxiliary body, and a relatively narrow tubular conduit leading through the side wall of the main heater body to the auxiliary body, a portion of the bottom of the auxiliary body being punched and bent to form an upwardly inclined deflector within the auxiliary body which lies between the hole in the bottom of the auxiliary heater and the tubular conduit, by which the flow of gases from either of the two burners will notI interfere materially with the draft of the other burner when both burners are in operation.
In testimony whereof I aliix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DAVID B. BARTEL.
