Patented Dec. 30, 1913,
DAVID rascn'or NEW YORK, N. it.
TROUSERS-BELT.
. Specification of Letters Patent. Pat nted D 31} 1913 Applieationfil-ed m 20, 191i; Serial No. 689,516.
To-allcvfzom thirty concern:-
Be itknown that. L Dav n BASCH,'-t1 citizen of the United States ofAmerica, and a resident of New York, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 'I'rou'sers-Belts, of which the following-is a specificatiom-refererce being hadto the accompanying drawings. forming a part thereof.
' 'My invention relatesto improvements in 4 garment supporting devices and particu .larly to thatclassof garment supporting devices. known as trouser belts, and which are employed forsupporting a pair-of trousers upon the wearer withoutt-h supporting device being'visible.
My invention comprises a non-elastic band I having :a series of eyelets at each end and at thecent'ral portion'thereof, by which the non-elasticband or. tape may. be sewn or otherwise. attached to the inside of the trouser; waistband. The non-elastic vband has an elastic strap-attached to it atpoints intermediate its ends and at such points thereon as to normally contract. a portion.
of thenon-elastic band and leave the part of the non-elastic band which is betweenthe points of attachmentin a loose condition.
7 3 .Wv hen the belt is in use and under tension the, elastic strap expands to the limit of the '1 non-elastic portion and the belt exerts a --te'nsi0n about-the waist of the wearerand i,.. so sustains'th trousers in proper position.
5 In order that. my invention may be thor-.
oughly understood I will now proceed to describe tin-embodiment thereof having ref erence to the accompanying drawings illustrating the same, and will then point outthe novel features in claims,
In the drawingsi Figure 1' is alperspecthe view of theupper-or waist portion of" a pair of trousers, having the supporting.
belt or band constructed-in accordance with i5 lily-invention. Fig. 2 1s a perspective view showing the trouser belt before it as attached to the waistband of a pair of trousers. Fig.
3 is an edge view of the same,
' The non-elastic band 9 is conveniently com- 0 posed of a strip of tape. At its ends it has a series of eyelets 8-S and at its central portionthereof another series of eyelets 7-'T.
Two elastic strap sections are fastend tothe non-elastic band at the respective points i 10-40, intermediate its ends vand are re- 9 at the respective points 1111 by any convenie'nt form of fasteners such .as friction fasteners or glorefast'eners of the ordinary type composed of two parts having a porhon 12 mounted on the non-elastic band and portion 13 mounted on the elastic strap section. As shown in the drawings the elastic strap sections are composed of single strips 15 15. Reference to Fig. 3 will show that when the belt is in it's-normal condition,'tlieelastic strap sections 15-15. are
much shorter than the portions of thenon elastic band 9 between the points of attachment.
, In use the non-elastic band is sewn or otherw se attached on the inside of the waist band of a pair of trousers'or' other garment in the position shown m'Fig. 1-. The eye lets a are usedto attach-the ends, and the eyelets to attach the central portion of the non-elastic band to the rear portion of the waist band. The rest of the non-elastic n'iovably,v fastened to the non-elastic bandband isleftloose and free. lVhen the belt,
is in position on the wearer, and is under tension, the elastic strap portions'will be stretched until the loop portions 1717 of the non-elastic band-are taken up. This tension of the elastic strap sections will cause the trouser waist band to be under tension and to be held tightly 'about'the waist of the wearer betweenthe front points of the'att-achment and the rear point of attachment.
The number of fasteners employed and the method of securing: the belt to the garment with which it is used. are details which may be varied within the spirit and scope of my invention and I desire that only such limitations be imposed as are indicated in the appended claims.
What I claim is: I 1. A device of the character described comprising a non-elastic band adapted to be attached to a garmentat its ends and at points intermediate of the ends thereof," elastic strap sectio'ns each removablv fastencd to the'non-elastie band at oneend and at points equidistant-fromthe ends there f,
the length of" each -ela'stic-strap section being less than the length of the non-elastic hand between the points otattachment.
2. 1L device of the character described comprising a non-elastic hand, elastic strap sectionsh aving one end of each, removably fastened to' theinge e of the non-elastlc tions is limited by the leflgth'of the nonband and having th other ends fastened elastic band betweemthe points of attachthereto at such p 'l vthat the nor'mal ment. 1 lengths of; the elastic strap "sections are less DAVID BASCH. 5 than the lengths of the n0n-e1astic band be- Witnesses:
