Description

G. F. KRUGH.
GAS BURNER.
Patented 0011. 28, 1913.
APPLICATION FILED 0013.7, 1912.
ammo r .llilli CHARLES F. KRUGH', 01 DORMONT, PENNSYLVANIA.
GAS-BURNER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 28, 1913.
Application filed October 7, 1912. Serial No. 724,340.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, CHARLES F. Kauai-1, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dormont, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gas- Burners, of which the following is a specification.
This invent-ion relates to improvements in gas burners and has for its object to provide a burner especially adaptable for heaters.
Another object is to provide a burner so constructed of sheet metal that no riveting or soldering is necessary.
With the above and other objects in view which will be more fully explained in the following specification, I have invented the device illustrated in the following drawings in which,
Figure 1 is an edge view of a portion of a baffle plate used in connection with my burner, Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view through my burner, Fig. 3 is a top plan view thereof, Fig. 4; is a sectional View taken on line Y-Y of Fig. 2, and Fig. 5 is a transverse sectional View of a gas heater showing my burner in position therein.
Like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the specification and in the several views in the drawings in which- 1 represents a gas chamber formed of a bottom wall 2, an annular side wall 3, and an inclined perforated top wall 1, said chamber being provided with a centrally positioned baflie plate 5 having portions 6 struck down from its peripheral edge adapted to contact said bottom wall, and struck up portions 7 adapted to contact said top wall, whereby said battle plate will not only be held in rigid position but said plate and walls will thereby be stiflened. The walls 2 and a and the plate 5 are each provided with central openings through all of which extends an air flue 8 which is provided with an annular flange 9 which engages the under part of said bottom wall, and an annular flange 10, which engages the outer surface of said top wall 4 adjacent the openings therein, whereby said walls are held from spreading apart. A pair of collars 11 and 12, both having flanges 13 and 14 encircle said flue and form spaces between the walls 2 and A, and the plate 5.
The wall 3 is provided with outwardly extending right angular flanges 15 and 16 which are engaged by the inwardly returned edges 17 and 18 of the walls 1 and 2, whereby said outer edges are held to the wall 3 and the light chamber 1 is formed. A gas inlet 19 is provided to said chamber and outlets 20 are provided in said top wall 4 for the escape of gas into the inner compartment 21 of the heater 22. The baffle plate 5 which is smaller in circumference,
1. A burner consisting of a gas chamber,
a battle plate therein, and collars having flanges adapted to space said plate and the walls of said chamber apart.
2. A burner consisting of a gas chamber,
a baffle plate therein, and collars having flanges adapted to space said plate and the walls of said chamber apart, the upper of said walls being perforated.
3. A burner consisting of a gas chamber,
a battle plate therein, collars having flanges adapted to space said plate and the walls of said chamber apart, the upper of said walls being perforated, and an air pipe passing through the center of said chamber.
4. A burner consisting of a gas chamber having an air flue through the center thereof, said chamber consisting of upper, lower and side walls, said upper wall being perforated to form gas outlets, a battle plate disposed in said chamber, and collars having flanges thereon adapted to support the inner part of said plate and form spacers for said walls.
5. A burner consisting of a gas chamber having an air flue through the center thereof, said chamber consisting of upper, lower and side walls, said upper wall being perforated to form gas outlets, a baflle plate disposed in said chamber, and collars having flanges thereon adapted to support the innor part of said plate and form spacers for said walls, said plate having up and down struck portions whereby it is held rigid at its outer part.
6. A. burner consisting of a gas chamber,
(not shown) 70 a baffle plate therein, collars having flanges In testimony whereof I aifix my signature adapted to space said plate and the Walls of in presence of two Witnesses.
said chamber apart, the upper of said Walls being perforated, and an air pipe passing CHARLES KRUGH' through the center of said chamber, said WVitnesses: 7
plate being smaller in diameter than said Jim. HEDDERIOH, Jr., chamber. J NO. WV. HEDDERICH.
