No. 107,575. Pa tented Sept. 20; I870.
I e J S Salm bzessea fay, fi f WWW GEORGE W. WHEAT, OF PHILIPSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
Letters Patent No. 107 ,575, dated September 20, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN SASH-HOLDERS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
I, GEORGE W. WHEAT, of Philipsburg, in the county of Centre and State of Pennsylvania, have- Figure l represents'a side elevation of my windowsash fastener, \vhen placed upon the jamb-casing for Figure 2'represents the ,plan of the same, showing the application of the lever a b with the coil-wire spring 0 and the hook D.
General Description. By removing the hook D, and pressing down the end of the lever, at b, the point at a is thrown upward and backward, leaving the sash to slide freely. On removing the fingers, the lever is thrown into use by the coil-spring'O, and is to be fastened by the hook D.
When the'fastener is applied to the upper sash, the lever-head a presses against the jamb-casing, and'the hook D is applied at the required point.
I am aware that cam-levers have been used before as sash-holders, and; held in position by cams or buttons. These, therefore, I do not claim as my invention; but
What I do claim is-- I The combination of the cam a, lever-handle 1), spring 0, and hook D, when constructed and arranged as described.
