Our invention relates lto sniolre tube superhenters and particularly to those 'for locornotives.

It will be evident that the details of the heating tubes and controlling valves may be varied to a very large extent without departing from the feature of taking superheated steam for 4the blower so as to insurea circulation through the. superheater tubes. According to the present invention the' superheatertubes are" cooled just by that steain which causes a danger to tthe super'-l `heater tubes when the fire is' blown up.
Having described our invention, we claim: 1. In a locomotive provided with a blower and smoke tube superheater of the class described, the combination of a superheated steam header having steam connection withl the engine cylinders, a valve for closin oi'- said steam connection, and an outlet tromi, said header between the valve and the superheater elements connected to the blower.
' 2. lIn a locomotive provided with a blower and smoke'itube superheater of the class de scribed, the combination of a saturated steam header having steam connection with the boiler, a superheated steam header having steam connection with the engine cylin? ders, a direct connection between the'boiler and the cylinders, a valve controlling said three connections. and adapted to simultane-,- ously close the connection between superheated header and engine cylinders and the direct connection between boiler and engine cylinders, and an outlet from the superheated header between the valve and the scribing witnesses.
