TRAY-SLIDE ATTACHMENT FOR PRINTING-PRESSES.
in the present specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings that form 1 part of the same.
The invention consists essentially of the novel arrangement and construction of parts whereby a fly board has a pair of laterally adjustable side boards arranged thereon and longitudinally flanged on the inner sides thereof to receive the plurality I of interchangeable tray slides.
The object of the-'invention'is to provide fly board havinga tray slide which will accommodate a plurality of trays and facilitate the removal of the printed matter with a mnumum loss of time.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the delivery end of a printing press showing the invention secured infosition. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view of e inventionshowing the trays arrangedithereon.
Like numerals of reference indicate cor responding parts in each figure. I In the drawings, 1 is the deliveryend of a printing press.
2 is part of the grasshopper-fly common to some types of printing presses and 3 are the tumblers customarily used with the grasshopper-fly. v 4 is a fly-board or receivlng plate secured fto the printing press and unto which the printed 'matter'is deposited in an automatic manner by the grass-hopper fly.
5 are'pairs of laterally extending series of orifices adjacent each side of the flyboard 4. I I I .7
6 is a'pair of parallelly arranged boards secured in upright manner along the top of the fiy-board toward each side thereof by means of suitable brackets 7 the said brackets being in alinement with the laterally arranged orifices 5 in the fly card so that the I bolts or screws by which the brackets are Specification of Letters Batent. Patented Sept, 16, 1913, Application filed January 11, 1913. Serial No. 741,441.
secured to the said fly-board may fit through the said orifices 5 in order that the side bars may be adjusted laterally in orderto accommodate different sized trays according to the size of the-printed matter desired.
8 are a pair of angle irons secured longitudinally to the inner face of the side bars .6 by( means of bolts or screws.
9 are a pair of trays of any desired condelivered by the grasshopper-fly or Whatever means is usedon the printing press 1125 for delivering the printed matter to the top tray, the said trays being in vertical alinement. capacity, it is removed from the tray-slide by a truck or by any convenient means,
When this tray has been filled to V thereby obviating the necessity of stopping the press as is customary at the present time, the printed matter thereafter being delivered to the bottom tray.v When the bottom tray has been filled to capacity the top tray isiaga'in' slid into position in order to receive the printed matter and the bottom tray is removed to be emptied. There is no loss of time and the jarring of "the printed matter by the stopping of the press hitherto experienced in removing the printed matter is'obviated, and consequently there is no danger of smearing any of the printed sheets.
Thev invention is simple and durable in construction and is an inexpensive article to manufacture. It can be readily adjusted and secured to the delivery end of any type of In a fiy-board for printing presses or the like having orifices t erethrough arranged l in pairs of laterally extending series a cent each side thereof, a pair of sidefboards,
