To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDwARo ERNEST Rooms, a subject of the Kingdom of Greatv Britain, residing at Highfield, Lichfield. Road, Four Oaks, in the county of Warwick, England, have invented a certain new and useful Improved Safety-Razor, of which the following is a specification.

This invention comprises a new or im proved safety razor and is particularly applicable to those of the "type in which the blade holders are pivoted to rock for strop-- ping purposes or to swing over for the removal of the blade.

It is the practice when'using an ordinary razor to lather the face twice and to place the opposite sides of the blade against the face when removing the different lathers.

The present invention comprises a safety razor operable substantially on the system of an ordinary razor i. e. a safety razor both sides of the blade of which may be'used, from which it will be understood that in addition to the life of the blade being doubled the result obtainable by the use of a safety razor according to the present invention is equal, or considering the facilities afforded by razors of the safety type, in excess of that previously obtainable only by the use bf an ordinary razor and a skilled operator. p

According to the present invention two blade guards or shields are provided one on each side of the handle and the blade holder is pivoted so that it can be made to readily occupy the relative position to either of the guards.

In order that this invention may be clearly understood and more easily carried into practice reference may be had to the appended sheet of drawings,.upon which Fi ure 1 is a part sectional elevation of a sa ety razor according to the present invention. What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a safety razor, a frame including a pair of arms provided with opposed slots, a blade holder provided with a shaft rotatably and slidably mounted in said slots, a guard extending from said frame and provided with hook teeth adapted to engage over the edge of a blade held in said holder when the shaft is in one position in said slots, and means tomove'the shaft to a sec ond position in said slots' and release said blade.
