Be it known that we, CHARLES S. BAKKER and ALEXANDER'PURDY, of Hector, in the county of Schuyler and in the State ot' New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washing-Machines; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawing inaking apart of this specification, in which- Figure l is a vertical central section of' our device as applied to a tub, and

Figure 2 is a plan view of the face of the rubbers.

vOur invention has for its object the cleansing of soiled clothing by mechanical means; and

It consists in the peculiar construction and arrange- Inent of the several parts of the device, whereby the saine is adapted for use in an ordinary tub, as is hereinaftcr set forth.

It may be found advantageous to occasionally use the upper disk as a pounder, and alternately raise and depress the same, but, tor ordinary work, the rotary motion will be found preferable.
