WATER BAG.
APPLICATION FILED xsAlAlLlsA 1913.

l g ATTURNEY CORNELIUS J. ORIELY, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
. WATER-BMM?.
Specicaton of Letters. Patent.
Patented July22, 1913.
Application led March 13, 1918. Serial No. 754,133.
To all whom z' may concern.' y
Be it known that I, CORNELIUS J. ORIELY, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Los Angeles, county of Los Angeles, State of California, have invented a certain new and useful Water-Bag; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in water bags. more particularly to water bags in which the water is kept cool as a result of evaporation of a small part of the Water, which finds it way from the interior to the exterior of the bag.
One object of the invention is to provide novel and improved means secured on the bag whereby the mouth of the bag may be quickly and interior of the bag or to fill it with water.
Further objects of the invention are to provide a water bag with novel and improved closure means secured thereon which is simple in character, easily applied and convenient and effective in use,` strong and durable and which cannot be lost or displaced by jolts or jars, and which permits of easily keeping the water bag clean and intra" sanitary condition.
With t-he above objects in view, the invention may be said to consist in the provision of vthe advantageous features and in the novel and improved construction, arrangement, and combination of parts as will be apparent from the fo-llowing description of the preferred form of construction embodying the invention, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings in which- Figure 1 is a broken elevational view of lthe water bag having the invention applied theretmFig. 2 is a broken end view of the same; Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the same; Fig. 4 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on the line 4.-4 of Fig. 3, Fig. 5 is an enlargedlfragmentary View of the upper part of the bag having the slotted rivet `afIiXed theret Fig. 6 is a sectional view taken on the line 66 of Fig. 3, and Fig. 7 is a sectional viewtaken on the line 7-7 of Fig. 5.
The water bag 8 is formed of any suitable effectively closed, l and also l readily opened when desired to clean they material, but 'preferably of flax duck, and is provided with a slit -or mouth 9 in one end thereof. A spout 10-may be suitably affixed on the bag 8, and a stopper 11 secured to the bag 8 by a cord 12 may bettted in the spout 10. i'
The improved means for closing the mouth 9 of the bag 8 consists of bars 13 and 14' which have one end portion thereof mounted on a pivot 15 affixed on the bag at one end of the mouth 9-one of said bars having a slot 16 therein in the end portion thereof remote from the pivot l5'-and a pin 17 movably tted in the other of said bars and adapted to pass through a slotted rivet 18 arranged on the bag and through the slot 16 and having thereon an enlarged portion or ring 19 adapted to be 4turned into engagement with the bar having the slot therein to press the bars tightly against the bag and thereby close the mouth 9. A suitable strap or rope 20 may have one end portion thereof attached to the ring 21 suitably aiixed to the bag 8, and it may have the other end, portion thereof suitably attached to the ringv 19, whereby the water'bag may be conveniently carried, hung up, or tied to a vehicle.
From vthe foregoing description the operation and advantages of the means for closing the mouth of the water bag will be readily understood by those skilled in the art.. It will be evident that to open the mouth of the water bag it is merely necessary to detach the rope 20 from the ring 19 and then turn thering 19 so that it may be passed thrpugh ythe slot 16 and slotted rivet 18, whereupon the free end portions of the bars 13 and 14 may be .turned on the pivot 15 and moved outwardly from the bag to permit spreading or opening ofthe mouth of the bag.
I claim:
A water bag provided with a mouth, and l means for closing the Amouth consisting of a pivot arranged on the bag near one end of the mouth, a slotted rivet arranged on the bag at the other end of the mouth, bars having one end portion thereof mounted on the pivot, one of said bars having a slot therein in the end portion thereof remote from the pivot, a pin movably fitted in the other of said bars and adapted to pass through the slotted rivet and through said slot, and a ring on said pin adapted to engage with connty of Los Angeles, Stateof California, the bar having the slot therein to press the tlus 7th day of March, A. D. 1913.
bars against the bag and thereby close the CORNELIUS J @,RIELY mouth. Y 5 In testimony whereof, I have signed my Witnesses:
name to this specification 1n the presence A. H. LIDDERS,
of two subscribing Witnesses at Los Angeles, i W. M. GENTLE.
